Clutter of Oblivion

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 8:37 pm

Anyone keen on this? Skyrim has a bit less variety in general clutter objects, just comparing the games on UESP.

The cutlery, bowls and vases would be easy retextures of Skyrim's current models. Stuff like hourglasses, scales and crystal balls could come later, once we have nifscope details nailed down.

Basically, the clutter would be put in homes and buildings, as fits their respective wealth.

There is clutter in skyrim, you just cant pick or grab most of them. And its very annoying :sadvaultboy:

Nah, I'm not really keen on this. IMHO there's more than enough clutter in the game. I feel that reducing the clutter is actually better this time around. AFAIK, there's no objects that you can pickup that have 0 value.

There is still cutlery in the game, but far, far less of it... there's lots of cutlery that you can't pickup, and then every once in a while there is cutlery that you can pickup.

However, where's the comparison? I'd be interested to see that.

I dunno, how far does it need to go? Do you really need to pickup all those forks and have them be worth 0.1 gold each? It saves you time to choose between a dozen objects on a shelf, and look at each one to see what the value is. This is one of the ways that I feel Bethesda trimmed the game slightly for a bit less realism and maybe just a bit less nice objects around (crystal balls, hourglasses), but in my opinion it puts the focus on gameplay that's fun and slightly lessens my obsessive need to pickup every item and sell it.

Yes...I need to be able to take 5 varieties of fork. Not that I ever would, but I don't know, little things that make the world seem more real?

Also would add variety to thievery. Silverware and exotic cloth being good targets, for instance.

It does for some people(like me) and im going to make a mod(or wait till somebody else makes...) that allows you to pick up every damn fork and crystal ball in the game. I like to be able to control my world, but in skyrim i cant even grab them, i have to use spells to move them.

What your suggesting is using the assets directly from OB and that is not allowed. :nono:

Recreate them from scratch or forget about it.

Where'd you get that from? He said "retextures of Skyrim models." I see none of the thread participants suggesting or even mentioning it - until yours.

I would love more clutter also, or at the very least be able to pick stuff up that we currently can't. I'm not 100% sure I'm on the "more clutter" side of the fence though because of the physics engine issues. It's just more stuff to go bouncing/flying around.

I also use clutter to decorate my own homes. It's nice getting silver and plates and whatnot to decorate the dining room and kitchen. Why not?

I didn't say that at all; I'm well aware of that.
