Using Steam for the first time. No Skyrim out there

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 11:32 pm

I have never used Steam software before and after it was published that Skyrim will be distributed via Steam and will require activation using the program I thought I'll just pre-order the game and play it on 11-11-11. Skyrim never showed up on Steam in the last couple of weeks and I was still hoping it will only appear on exactly 11th November but now that the day is here and Skyrim is not there - where on earth is the problem? Is Steam not available in Lithuania, a member of EU?

It would appear that Skyrim is not available in Lithuania, for whatever reason.

I tried looking up information about this, but the steam forums are currently down due to being compromised.

I am sorry that this turns out to be the case :(

Same here, not first time using Steam, but it is first time there is some ridiculous regional limitation for my anticipated game.
Because apparently according to Bethesda world map there is a black hole between central Europe and Russia (or maybe Valve is guilty here, or both)
Well, at least that explains why time move slower here and "11-11-11" will happen later
Oh, and by the way does somebody know when this "later" will happen?
Because somehow I dislike the idea of checking Steam every hour for next few months.
I wrote e-mail (a.k.a. the new snail mail) to Bethesda that explained this issue and with question regarding approximate date when TES5 could appear on Steam at this region
Still no answer, but if I receive answer before game appears on Steam, I'll place additional info here

P.S. If anyone wants to contact Bethesda themselves can go here
http://www.gamesas.com/eng/contact.php
and write them an e-mail (maybe unnecessary notice, but still- be polite towards developers, they are busy right now with patching the game, so it is only obvious that some minor part of fanbase might go by unnoticed)
P.P.S. You should do it anyway. 1 or 2 mails regarding this issue might go by unnoticed, but if they receive 50-75 mails about this problem, it might speed things up a bit.
P.P.P.S. As we all know Numbers=Power

Go check with the local game stores, they should know.

I've written them too. I'll reply here when/if I get an answer.

Still no answer, but good news for the impatient ones
Razor1911 cracked version is out on torrents
So you can try it, before buying game, who knows maybe you'll change your mind
I personally don't want to change my mind, so I'm going to wait until Skyrim appears on Steam (at least for next couple of weeks)

Maybe it is even good, since there are "some" bugs in it, and by the time TES5 comes here most of them will be patched.

P.S. Yes I will bump this topic time after time to keep it alive
P.P.S. Anyone else thinks that the fact that any AAA game will be pirated in one week eliminates the purpose of DRM (hell that law abiding, paying customers must go through)? It sure seems so
P.P.P.S. Yes harsh DRMs increases the sales slightly, but this increase might be explained also by simply increasing numbers of fans.
P.P.P.P.S. Also some of those who pirated game are under age and can't afford/persuade parents to buy some games, so only choice for them is to pirate game (especially if game is M rated). Later they grow up, get jobs and can buy games themselves. By that time DRM supporters start to yell, that DRM increased sales, when actually change of demographics is true reason behind it. I know, been there, done that
P.P.P.P.P.S. Ok, I'll stop here :D
