My problems with Skyrim

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 2:12 am

This is not a complaint thread. I am loving the game. The more information, the better Bethesda can deal with the issues. I am playing on a Black 360, 120 HDD, HDMI port. Not new but not old either. Playing on an HDTV with HDMI cables. My son's 360 60 gig HDD no HDMI port, white older than mine. Using the 360 cables.

First off, for my son, playing on a non HDTV, the lettering is small he can hardly read anything.

For me, low texture issues (surprise) so now playing off a memory stick and seemed to work for me.
Long "lag" time when going into the menu screen by hitting B. When starting off, no lag at all, but as going into the menu screen by hitting B, lag becomes longer and longer, sometimes even 10 seconds before I can go to Inventory. Sometimes going down to map, then to right seems a "bit" faster, lag gets longer and longer as I keep playing. I ended up going to dashboard and restarting Skyrim makes the lag short but again gets longer and longer as I play. Also if I just reload a game from a previous save, seems to fix it temporarily.

Game seems to freeze a split second. When scripted events happen like the begining carriage ride down the hill, just before exiting the carriage, it freezes or sneezes. Noticed it a few times.

During loading screen, sometimes when black, along the left side, get a white dotted line going from top to bottom on the edge of the screen.

When in the skill screen, trying to go up a tree, doesn't work. Like it's frozen again or very long "lag". The when finally in a tree, trying to move up, doesn't seem to work either. Sometimes it does, others it goes to the next tree up. I dread when I go into the Skill section since it seems so laggy and not working properly.

These are my major issues of the game. I am not complaining, loving the game, but these are the issues I am having and hoping will be fixed eventually.

Also can there be a setting for people who play on Standard Defintion TVs so the lettering is better. Not everyone plays on an HDTV with HDMI cables.

What are your problems on the 360 guys and girls that may or may not have been listed?

Bethesda says they're working on a patch that will fix the SDTV issues.
Supposedly, the lag in menus is a result of people's controllers having "drift" problems. In other words, the control sticks are slowly drifting to the side and it is confusing the game when in menus. One of my other controllers had this problem and when I switched to one that didn't have the drift, the menu lag stopped.
As for a temporary fix for your son's SD issue, he can turn down the sharpness of the TV so the text is a bit clearer. This worked for me, but obviously that's not an ideal solution. Hope this helps.

I have a problem with the fixishing animations. Some are epic while others end very abruptly.

The game runs very smooth on mine, navigating the menus etc no delay at all im just getting the horrible textures as most people are, things look good untill you get close and realise how blurry and pixelated they actually look, and im running off disc. Hoepfully this fix will come sooner rather than later though.

Thank you Verninon, I have done this, and it helped a bit. Not much, guess it's my TV, but my son likes it, so thank you very much.
