What the HELL is wrong with my mouse?!

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 1:39 pm

Any other PC users REALLLY bothered by this?

It feels so obvious this game was designed for the X-box. My mouse moves like 1/4th the speed it moves in Morrowind/Oblivion/FO3/FO:NV and if I wanna look up or down? I could make myself a pot of coffee in the time it takes to look up. Yeah there's a sensitivity option but that doesn't help much either: the sensitivity option works wonders on the X-axis but barely does jack for the Y-axis, so it remains really awkward.

Wat do?

Upped the sensitivity abit because for almost all these games its to low and no problems with x or y axis.

the console comment however is spot on, this interface and keybinding wants to make me throw me computer out the window. :banghead:

Try changing the sensitivity in Windows Control Panel rather than the game, see if that helps. Also, an XBox controller is an option, if you're willing to abandon mouse and keyboard.

i havent really heard may complaints about the mouse messing up so all i can tell you is keep trying to adjust the sensitivity and maybe try a different mouse to see if its the mouse not the game?

Look on the PC tech forum for work-arounds. For the majority of users the mouse just doesn't work properly right out the box on this game. It's like they didn't actually test it.

This.
Looking up and down still feels a bit slower though, but I can deal with that.

I thought about that but as I said, I've loaded up Morrowind and Fallout New Vegas in the mean time to make sure I'm not crazy, and sure enough their sensitivity is spot-on. I can look 45 degrees in every direction without ever lifting my mouse.

Skyrim, as I said, I can edit the sensitivity to fix the X-axis, but I have a feeling if someone saw a silouette through my window of me playing Skyrim and trying to make my character look up, they might think I was actually rubbing one out or something.

What sensitivity would you guys recommend? Like what percent towards the right side? 30%? 50%? 75%?

There's a thread On the pc forum where you adjust the .ini file. I plan to try this when I get home tonight. Agreed on the lack of mouse sensitivity. Set to max and it's still like stirring treacle with an oar.

In the game I have it set at about 45% or so, and in windows it's set to 7/11.

edit: I can look straight up long before my mouse hits the top of my mouse pad.

I'm playing on ~80% at the moment.
The game started at like 0% and it was freaking hilarious. The tutorial suggesting you look around and it's about as fast as turning a massive turret.

Yeah holy hell. That dude said "hey you!" and I wanted to scream "CAN YOU COME OVER HERE PLEASE IT SEEMS MY NECK IS BROKEN." I thought my Y-axis was completely disabled for the tutorial, then finally figured out it truly is that slow when the gameplay started.

Is mouse smoothing forced on (console bugbear)? If so, there may be a way to disable it in the .ini.

i would check further down on the gameplay options, there should be something that mentions xbox controller, by default it is activated. deactivate it, that helped me quite a bit. however, the y axis is still ultimatly not as fast. idk why.

Yes, this is bugging the heck out of me! Between that, the silly "favorites" thing, and the menu controls I feel "consoled"...

Wow, maybe that is why I had not noticed the issue others are posting about here.
I had stumbled across that setting on my first play and just toggled it off without
thinking (other than it reminded me of my hatred of that sort of control mechanism)

Amazing , it is almost as if, as other posters have pointed out, they didnt' fully
test the game for PC platforms.

Amazing. Huh, go figure.
