Update.esm question

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 11:14 am

In Date folder are Skyrim.esm and Update.esm.
When I press Data Files button from the Skyrim window, it shows only Skyrim.esm
Is that how it should be?
Sorry for the question, but haven't seen any info about this.
Thanks

Yup - The Update.esm file is a special plugin that's automatically loaded by the game right after the game's master file.

On an unrelated note, how did you get the launcher to enable the 'Data Files' button? It's disabled in mine.

Hi, shadeMe and hope you'll be modding and mudding around :D
I don't know how -just installed the copy I bought and while was unhappy about seeing the Steam coming unwanted, pressed the Data Files button and it opened.
Very interesting this about the automatic load. Do you think it can be used to load mod-added files?

Hmm, doesn't seem to work. I've tried adding that to the file present in \Skyrim and in the \My Games\Skyrim folders.

So do I :) The automatic loading is limited to the Update.esm file only,as it's a part of the game's new patching system. Regular mods will have to be managed with the usual tools.

My Games is the folder you'll want to be in... and just a thought, but maybe try adding the line to Skyrim.ini instead of (or in addtion to, it can't hurt :P) SkyrimPrefs.ini?
