Suggestion: Learn the hotkeys

You can add weapons to your favorite list, along with spells, shouts, potions, and items. I think you can even add armor.

This is actually fairly important. Let's say your walking across town, and you like to sprint. Only sprinting eats up stamina in your heavy armor. You could theoretically set a quick key to clothing instead of armor, then be able to run quickly, then hotkey your armor when you go back into the wilds, or a fight starts.

Later, when you have enchanted equipment, you could very quickly switch spells and armor on the fly to get things done well.

Mage? Spell-proof suit and invisibility spell/dagger. Dragon? Ice/fire proof suit and ranged/melee damage weapon keys.

Learn the hotkeys - it'll be well worth the setup.

I disagree, using the hotkeys like that is an immersion breaker to me. In real time it would take more than a split second to take off your heavy armor and put on regular clothes. Furthermore, it's not like your heavy armor is suddenly weightless or in some extra-dimensional space. It doesn't make sense to remove your armor to sprint because it actually encumbers you less while it is equipped. The other forms of swapping you mention are really only useful if you intend to exploit the limited game mechanics in favor of powergaming. It doesn't work at all if you're role-playing your character.
