I apologize if this has already been discussed in another thread.

After installing and activating Skyrim on Steam I open the launcher and it auto detects high settings but when you open the options menu it reverts to some low standard settings. If I manually change these options (ie. Resolution or Aspect Ratio) and click ok the game does not retain these settings (ie. if you reopen options it reverts to the low standard default). Normally I would just ignore this and wait for a patch but the game is currently unplayable. I tried modifying the .inio files but havent had any success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

System is:

Intel i7
AMD 5870
8 gigs
Windows 7 64 professional
