[REQ] Canine beast race.

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 3:31 pm

Hi.

I find the idea of beast races intriguing, but cats and lizards wouldn't be my first choice to play as. I have a lot of fond memories with the Soqui mod for Oblivion; running about in the bushes as a dog-hunter-guy, and would love to see another iteration of the soqui mod for Skyrim.

No, I'm not asking for hot dudes or chicks with ears, tails, and whiskers, but rather a truly interesting alternative to the beast races.

I'll second this notion, as I also have very fond memories of the Soqui of Oblivion, and, before them, the Keynari of Morrowind.

The good news is that, with so many different modders, there'll usually be something perfect for nearly everybody; and there will certainly be no lack of modders for Skyrim. It's really just a matter of when, rather than if.

That would be the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Lilmothiit, which was made into a mod during the earlier years of Oblivion. As far as I know, it used the CS to modify a Khajiit head into something more canine (probably less possible with Skyrim's seemingly more stringent aesthetic options,) rather than an entirely new mesh, which seems to be the case for the previously mentioned mod, the Soqui. I could be entirely incorrect in those regards, however. As for the Lilmothiit, their only mention in the lore seems to be that miniscule snippet from the Pocket Guide to the Empire.

I'm going to be making a musteline beast-race (made one recently for Oblivion but it was not released due to Skyrim). Canines are way over-done IMHO.

Well hey, any and all variety is wonderful in my opinion! Not only would such a race be interesting to play, but one could even argue that they fit perfectly into the alpine climate of Skyrim. Are you thinking along the lines of a weasel/marten, or something more like a wolverine? Regardless, I look forward to seeing what you can do!

Syko: I'm going ferret-ish/ermine-ish. Probably two presets (sable and albino). Going to have them originating on the Nord/Breton border, and I've already got a logical backstory and name-set.

I made a thread about it here:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1281533-wip-announce-mustelineferret-race/

Actually, if someone does a canine race we may have to collaborate, since I would probably need to use his tail model and animation. So yeah I take back what I said about canines being overdone. Get on it. Now!

I'm generally not interested in installing things that aren't lore-friendly, but I always like to see what comes of plans like this.

I'd totally play one of those if a mod were made for it.

Dawgs in Skyrim? That's one of the worst ideas ever.

Best idea ever! It will inevitably happen, I'm hoping to get my hands on one if not -attempt- to make one myself. Just hasn't happened for Morrowind or Oblivion to a degree that I'd feel comfortable with. Not way overdone, yet!
