Problem with Rage

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 11:50 am

Hey there,

I`ve got a big problem.

I have purchased Rage some days after the current start of the publishing. I played it some hours and there were no problems (even not with textures). But this weekend I started it and I played a mission in the "gearhead vault". After some minutes the game crashed and my computer turned off automatically. I thought it was just an error and I ignored this mission, so I played another quest but there was the same problem. After approximately ten minutes the game turns my computer off and I have to start my pc again. My graphic-driver is not actual - the game was running perfect, so I didn`t update anything. I guess the game is causing a crash because the game gives me a message like " the current savegame is corrupted". In fact of that I veryfied the game cache with steam and it says a file cannot be verified. Do I have to reinstall the game or is there another solution for my problem?

My System:

Quadcore Q6600

GeForce 250 Gts

2 Gig Ram

Driver: 3.8.812.0

OS: Windows 7

thank you a lot for your advices

greetings,

The Q

(P.s. I am sorry for my bad english)

I think your PC is overheating. I've experience the same with an old PC I have. Do you have any idea of what the temperatures are? Preferably from hardware monitoring tools.

Hm... You`re thoughts are right. Overheating could be the problem. I didn`t read the temps of my pc because all weeks ago everything was fine. I will watch the temps tomorrow and post a reply due to them.

Solved!

My CPU turns up to 100° degrees (it`s a bit too hot  ).

Get yourself one of these... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181018 (CORSAIR H40 120mm High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler) That's what I am using and right now its running at 12C, in game 20 to 30C. and my Q6600 2.4 is overclocked 3.07 GHz. Just make sure you clean the dust out of it every once in a while.

PS: There is also a CORSAIR H70 Core High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler, more expensive though.
