I know this has probably been asked several times before, but I am extremely disappointed. I purchased this game shortly after launch and it was completely unplayable. Less than 1 frame a second, textures just failing to load, crashes, etc. I am sure every problem I have experienced is well documented. Shortly after purchasing this game I went on vacation for a few weeks. I had hoped to get some play time in before going away, but this definitely isn't the first game I have played that experienced issues at launch.
It seemed a reasonable assumption to me that by the time I returned from my trip these issues would be resolved. I spent most of my afternoon today reading through forums, playing with config files, trying several different versions of drivers for my HD5770. And it seems a month isn't a reasonable amount of time for this company to give back to it's patrons. I hear rumours of some patches being available tomorrow, I am going to wait and see if that will correct these issues and if not I would like to know what to do with the 3 coasters I purchased.
I have purchased and loved every id game since Doom 2 (I still have the original box and 3.5" floppy's on my desk as a tribute to how much I love this company in fact) This seems to be id's first dance with Bethseda and needless to say I very much hope there isn't a second date. I was hoping to have Rage finished by the time Skyrim came out, but I am wary on whether or not to give this company even more of my money at this point. So far all I have been able to do is play BF3 (which runs essentially flawlessly on my machine with my graphic settings turned up) while waiting for this problem to be fixed.
This message will likely get no attention at all so I hope Bethseda enjoys the $60 they essentially stole from me, it pains me to admit it but the best comfort I found in all of this was going to EB Games to pre-order Skyrim in hopes it works better.
