My saved game won't even load up. I just get the dreaded "Rage has stopped working" if I tab out to desktop. I simply can't stomach starting a new game to see if it will work. Back to preview 3 for me. I'll just put this whole Rage fiasco down to experience and make sure not to buy from Bethesda or id until I know their products are fit for the purpose in future.

Try running it in Crossfire

For some reason I rather rely on my steam to check for new drivers. This has worked out fine so far... At the moment I′m still using preview version 2. Unless steam doesn′t update I′m gonna stick with version 2.

Try running it in Crossfire

I might have a slight limiting factor there

I'm going back to 11.10 Preview 3 until I've finished the game. Then I shall delete Rage from my hard drive forever (if not from my memory!) and go back to WHQL drivers so that my other games look as they should again.

This is pretty much my worst ever experience with a game and I've been playing PC games since the days of the original DOOM and Wolfenstein 3D. I'd be lying if I said that I'd never run across other troublesome games. But none of them can hold a candle to Rage. For all the wrong reasons sadly

I think at this point, it's not the drivers. Rage just needs a damn patch.

Pink, purple, blue a splash of yellow and WHAM, back to the desktop. I can't even play with the settings in this version. This is worse than release day

Dude seriously my next build is no longer will be an ATI video card thats for sure tire of this. AMD you gonna make ppl switch to nvidia take my word i know i am not the only 1 now that its thinking the same thing .

i'm definitely going to nvidia next time. I have the 5870 rig and that card had problems with the BSOD or GSOD (blue/gey screen of death). For real i fixed it after reading tons of forums. It was the voltage that wasn't stable! Never had this happening with nvidia.
The CCC isnt all that either.

the new amd drivers focus on crossfire platforms, i cannot believe this!

http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-32.aspx

what about almost all of us who suffer rage problems in single GPU rigs??????

in the specs there is NO word about rage. when can we expect a patch?

I'm tempted to do the same. I'm happy enough in general with ATI cards, but the OpenGL support is clearly lacking.

I used to be a staunch Nvidia user. I changed when PCI-e first came out (because the new system I bought had an X700 Pro in it) and have been ATI (AMD) ever since. I think it's time to see if the grass really is greener on the other side. I personally know 2 Nvidia users that have big problems with Rage though, so it's probably not so simple as ATI vs Nvidia.

Yes ATI can't write opengl drivers. But for me last 2 ver is good. Preview3 and official 11.10. I have old HD 3850 pcie 512 and RAGE run perfect with this 2 ver. No cfg-s. I uninstall normal and again in safe mode with driver sweeper. Win 7 x64

I installed the new driver, completely clean install (I was gonna reinstall windows today anyway), but no differences from the preview 3 one at Rage or Battlefield. Preview 3 fixed most of my problems, although I have only 30 fps on max details (while when I had errors with textures and stuff, at least I had 60fps). From what I've noticed, no difference between preview 3 and the new one

holly crap. now I can conclude. the game is actually broken because it causes driver, why other games just work fine with 11.10? can you explain it? I don't think. rage is broken. driver is nothing to do with it.

Hey, is anyone having problems starting the game? after I updated to the newest driver today, Rage hasn't been able to start.

my specs are:

Processor Intel® Core™ i7-2720QM CPU @ 2.20GHz, 2201 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Radeon ™ HD 6770M

Sorry, but it works the other way. Those shots are definitive proof that it actually is the driver. Do you know how to load a texture in a game? It's just one function call, and everything else is handled by the driver.

"But everything else works" doesn't cut it; "everything else" doesn't use OpenGL and AMD have a crap OpenGL driver. End of.

Ummm...the drivers are working perfectly for me.

I'm running below minimum specs (HD3870X2, Phenom II 9850) and playing at 1280 x 1024 with 8x AA and HIGH AF. Vsynch is OFF with no tearing.

I've gone in and out of the wasteland / outside area about 10 times and the game crashed to desktop once, and this is without any GPU or CPU overclocks.

NOTE: I recommend you at least try removing any custom rageconfig.cfg files you were using previously...I think they actually do more harm than good with this Catalyst driver release.

Oh, and if you havent done so already try this:

no rageconfig.cfg file
vsynch off
texture cache small

if it doesnt work for you, try

using a rageconfig.cfg file that sets jobs_numthreads to 4 and vt_maxppf to 16 if you have a quadcore OR jobs_numthreads to 0 and vt_maxppf to 8 if you have a dual core or single core cpu.

i wonder why i'm not getting the blue screens others are seeing?

Another tip: if you're forcing AF in your driver control panel - don't. This is likely to play havoc with Rage, and a few folks have reported problems when doing so. So set it back to application controlled and use the video options menu instead.

I installed the new 11.10 drivers and I am not getting the blue texture problem. I am seeing the graphical artifacts popping back up again as wellas a bit of texture popping, neither of which were occuring with the 11.10 preview3 drivers. Still no CrossfireX support for this game, all around quite disappointing as usual.

Yes, I had the same problem. I could neither load a saved game nor get past the intro movie if I tried to start a new one.

That was with a full removal and clean of old drivers and a fresh install of 11.10 WHQL. No .cfg files, no command line parameters. All settings in CCC set to application.

All that got me was the loading screen with the spinning wingstick which would spin for a few seconds accompanied by some hard drive activity. Then nothing. CPU usage drops to zero and tabbing out of the game uncovers the "Rage has stopped working" message. A new game just throws up the intro movie and then 0% CPU activity and "Rage has stopped working".

Going back to the preview 3 drivers fixed it again
