Make sure its an 8gb or 16 gb. First you need to configure it. Put it in your xbox go to system, then memory. You should see your hdd and the flash drive. Press Y on the flash drive and you'll see a list of options. Choose to configure it. Next go to the Skyrim icon on your dashboard (where you would choose to play it). Click Y, which brings up game details I believe. Then click install. It will ask you if you want to install on your hdd or flash drive, choose flash drive obviously. It takes about 10 minutes, opposed to the 2 when installing to your hdd.

You don't have to start a new game. As soon as you "press start" in the Skryim title screen. You'll be asked to choose a memory device or something along those lines. Basically its asking where you want to save, so pick your hdd.

Really? And you are talking about the hand textures, where its completely blurry? What I would do is turn off your xbox, unplug the flash drive, turn it back on, clear your cache (go to system, memory, then press y on your hdd). Then run the game off the disk and play for like 5 minutes, then turn it off, put back in your flash drive and try again.

My experience:

- Buy game :)
- Install on HDD -> BLURRY TEXTURES
- Uninstall from HDD -> Playing from disc -> TEXTURES OK
- Reinstall on HDD + Clear Cache -> BLURRY TEXTURES
- Uninstall and ReInstall on USB HDD Western Digital Elements 1TB -> TEXTURES OK

In resume, from DVD or USB textures are OK,
From HDD blurry.

Currently playing from USB WD, all is perfect (7 hours without issues).

PD: Savegames still in HDD.

Yeah, that first one kind of looks like the texture bug. So your hands dont look blurry? This is really weird.

Yes. Better than from HDD and same as disc. Though on all three lots of 'snow' texture, particularly on rocks, look frankly awful, also some wooden raillings / stone walls look very low-res (on usb and off disc). For some reason the further North you go the likelyhood of poor textures increases! Interiors seem generally better than most exteriors. And the graphics seem to improve the longer I play at a sittting (cache maybe).

My wife, who is a graphics designer and loved Oblivion, thinks the 'colour pallet' on Skyrim is drab and not in keeping with the games 'Northern Europe' type setting (she actually been to that part of the world). She also agree with me that the mixture of great/poor textures is off putting - you can't easily get used to the one with the other.

However, graphics and glitches aside, the game is great!

yeah I think you have nailed it there really it's the mixture of the two that really draws attention to it. Super high res pots, bottles and other objects on a really low res blurry table.

I think some are going to be disappointed when the patch comes out and the game doesnt resemble running on a high end pc though, some textures are clearly borked but others are just not very good period. I guess they assumed we just wouldn't notice.

Gotta say though, all this is really hampering my enjoyment of the game, If I knew it was supposed to look this way I could just accept it and concentrate on playing the game, as it is not knowing if you're experiencing an inferior version due to an error really breaks the immersion.

All the wood textures are so blurry, the tables, posts and bridges all look really bad. Everything looks fine from a medium distance but as soon as you get close it's all blurred up. Plus I've noticed that the textures on female NPC's clothing seem to be significantly worse than the males! deliberate?

Dude I made an account just now so I could let you know how I fixed my textures; simply clear you HDD cache, then clear a USB cache (8gb or better) then delete the game from HDD and turn off console. Turn on console and install on USB. This took like 15 minutes to install. Load up the game normally and the textures will looks great until you read a book or use the map. The textures then scale back down, save and quit. Next time you load up it should work, I have logged like 5 hours without problems since I did this. Hope it helps and best of luck

60 hours in. Still playing off an install on usb (saves on HDD). Not played anything else or touched cache since I emptied it before first install. Game is looking wonderful! Even the snow effects are OK. Very very few texture problems now. Though as a test I did play through the first sequence (execution /dragon attack) and texture were just as ropey - walls, etc. So it might be that that area has naturally some low-res textures. Anyway I believe the game is now (properly cached at last?) looking as good as possible. Enjoying the whole experience much more as a result. Still hoping for patch though.....

Mind you, if you use an old save (from HDD) or put save on the USB you will get the low texture issue, like it'll affect your USB installment. When you install on USB you have to start a fresh new game. That's from my experience at least, my hands and weapons are high res after a new game from USB, not sure about all the area textures though.

Alot of people see low res everywhere now and no-one really knows where it's intented.
