Rage runs faster on single GPU !

Believe it or not ! it runs much faster & smoother on single GPU than SLI !

I have 2x GTX 285 in SLI and managed to run both GPU's with RAGE using Driver ver 280.26

@ SLI Enabled , 8K textures - 1024*768 - 16xFSAA "w/ Q6600@2.4GHz" = Frames drop to 44fps

@ SLI Enabled , 8K textures - 1024*768 - 16xFSAA "w/ Q6600@3.2Hz" = Frames drop to 50~55fps

So to keep it smooth I'm forced to 4xFSAA only :banghead:

Well, here in Lebanon where I live we are limited with electricity for some time and I'm forced to 5A of current witch is not sufficient for my system @ full load, so to play some games I'm forced to disable SLI to lower power requirements so that I can play with this limited current..

When I got forced to 5A and don't want to leave RAGE, I've disabled SLI

@ SLI Disabled , 8K textures - 1024*768 - 16xFSAA "w/ Q6600@2.4GHz" = 60fps and barley drops to 59fps WTF!

So what the hell is wrong with this engine ??

I'm sure SLI was working cuz both GPU's where up to 60~75% load !
But now, only one GPU going up to 80~90% running the game without hiccups

SLI isn't supported for Rage yet that I know of. I have seen the same problem with 2x MSI GTX480's.
With some drivers it actually worked in sli and a full 60fps, others not. I see no real need for sli if it
runs 60fps on a single card. I just picked up a gaming laptop with a 460M video card & the game runs
pretty much the same as my i7 2600k @ 4.4Ghz with the two GTX480's, no OC on the vcards.
I only OC the video cards for benching contest, no since in running a OC on vcards other wise.
But I would like to split the load between the 2x GTX480's as temps would probably be a little lower.
Not that there high, only hits 60c on the 480, the 460m can get up to 70c while playing depending
on room temps. The game to me looks better on this laptop, maybe something to do with 3D Vision?
I tried Rage on this laptop with the stock driver that came on it v266.86 & it ran flawless.
Seen no real difference after upping to v285 latest driver. Updating the 3D vision did seem to help
the looks, seems to have a deeper 3D look about the game.
