Safe to say those are PC screens on the RPS review? If so.....meh. They look pretty good. Hardly see a difference, though.

To get to page 2 of the PC Gamer review, remove the slash from the end of the url for page 2. Small goof that I'm sure they'll fix soon.

PC Gamer one is spoiler free, as it says at the beginning. For some reason the second page of thee review won't load at the moment though.

The RPS one with the big list of 'things I've done' has some specific stuff in it but not very spoilery. Either way that part can easily be skipped.

Change the "2" to "3" in the URL for the 2nd page. Did the trick.

The games we normally call open worlds – the locked off cities and level-restricted grinding grounds – don’t compare to this. While everyone else is faffing around with how to control and restrict the player, Bethesda just put a f**king country in a box. It’s the best open world game I’ve ever played, the most liberating RPG I’ve ever played, and one of my favourite places in this or any other world.

Wonderful news! :tes:

I'm a little put off by the mention of the UI & controls for PC not feeling as smooth & responsive as console but 1 have to see for myself2 I expected less time spent on the PC version simply bc piracy has destroyed the PC industry & I can't wait for the new 360 that will hopefully have DX11 so we can finally see all of it's capabilities! lol. Game still sounds amazing & I will be playing PC & 360!

I loved this part from the Rock, Paper, Shotgun review:
I’m sorry Morrowind – I love you, but I don’t need you anymore. I think, at last, there is a new Best Elder Scrolls Ever.

And this one from PC Gamer:
It’s the best Indiana Jones game ever made.

I have read some positive comments about the PC version from GB:

"The PC version also naturally looks by far the best and was able to tax even our fairly powerful office machine in the outdoor areas."

and IGN:

"The PC crowd should be happy to hear that, assuming you've got a powerful machine, The Elder Scrolls V looks far and away the best."

The ass kissing in the reviews is nausiating.

So glad I no longer subscribe to gaming publications.

Enjoyable reading, I had to skip quite a few (spoiler) paragraphs. Thanks for posting though.

Article: "I’ll admit, I’m in the camp that believes Bethesda’s games have been on a downward slide since the hallowed Morrowind. I got plenty out of Oblivion (especially the thieves’ and assassins’ guilds arcs) but it did feel hollow, bland and awkward compared to its predecessor. Fallout 3 I found boring, contrived and clumsy, though I deeply wanted to like it. I seriously worried Skyrim would, for all its talk of lavishness, depth and dragons, continue the transformation into a trudging, consolified action game filled with clunky acting. It does not. It slams on the brakes then reverses at dangerous speed back into Morrowind territory. Some things are lost (e.g. Persuasion is a sadly watered-down, irregular affair now mostly to do with shopping), many things are changed (e.g. recharging magic items can be done anywhere) and it’s certainly not as weird (no flying or Siltstriders), but it truly reclaims that sense of being in another world, rather than a generic soft-focus, over-familiar fantasyscape."

I dont trust any review that comes out day one... or before. Really, they played the game 30 hours, isnt this game supposed to last for like 150? Its 'sick' that these pros get invited to play upcoming games for an hour, just so that they can write a blog post about how their gaming session with this new game was 'amazing'. Sure the game is amazing for the first hour, how about the following 40? Pro reviewers dont play long enough for the shine to wear off. And most the time when a game gets a good review, it's not because the game is good, it's more that the game is new. Also, think about that pro reviewers dont shell out their own money for games. A free game always plays better than a $60 game. And a free game plays a hell of a lot better than your 4th $60 game of the year. Today it's all about doing ones own homework. Plenty of info and gameplay videos out there. If people want to read reviews, find a non-pro that pays for their own games and spends a real amount of time getting to know the game.

The PC gamer reviewer has had the game for some time, and put 24 hours into it in the first 48 he had it. I'd be VERY likely to trust their reviews, especially since I believe they've been playing the game a week. They wont be able to hit every nook and cranny, but I also dont want to wait until early december for a proper review either. They have plenty of games to review, they cant put ALL of their time and energy for 3-4 weeks into one review. They just cant. And you think non-pros are less biased? *points to COD is good vs. COD is the devil arguments*. I dont trust me peers at ALL for the most part lol :P

Takes a trained eye and hand to notice the fluent smooth gameplay brings, and honestly there isn't a lot of eye candy in DX9

"Eighty hours into Skyrim, I’m still feeling like that 11-year-old." These guys have had the review code faar longer than I thought

It fails where the previous games fail: it tries to make your mission feel epic by making it about a prophecy, then does all its exposition in the time-honoured format of old men giving you interminable lectures.
I laughed. So true in past games. Too bad Skyrim continues the tradition.

Yeah... like every TES game, when it comes up for the inevitable sales specials on Steam, people are going to ask in the forums whether it's worth it, and like every TES game, people are going to answer it's great if you ignore the main quest... :P

yeah, 24hrs still isnt like owning a game a playing it. Not enough time to let it sink in. See, I have no intention of playing the game for at least months from now. I like waiting for mods, patches and proper reviews. And thats my point about having too many games to review. they just want to do a fast run though and slap up a review then move on. Take a game like deus ex, you think reviewers had multiple play throughs to explore the game thoroughly? Look at LA Noir. before and right after it came out it was the greatest game ever. 6 months later after all the flaws are accepted, it's merely decent. Every CoD game gets a perfectish score... then when the new one comes out, they talk about all the broken things in the previous incarnation that have now been fixed. Reviewers get too caught up in the newness. I advocate people doing their own research or at least finding a non pro that has their same tastes in games.
