Texture corruption on reloadnew area load.

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 1:44 pm

Hi Guys,

Like most of you I suffered at release from the 0 FPS issue, and now using the steam launch extensions work-arounds to get a playable frame rate. The game runs flawlessly from the start of the campaign with high textures. Can’t complain at all. However, as soon as I have to reload a game or I enter the first mission map, I get the now infamous texture corruption issue. Now, it can be fixed by playing with small textures, but then the pop up is horrendous and seriously ruins the experience.

Specs:

C2D 6400 @ 3.2
ATI 4870 512
Win XP SP3
2 gig ram @ 800Mhz
11.10v2 AMD drivers.

I don’t really expect anyone here to fix the issue (have been playing with various “fixes” for the last 3 days to no avail), I just wanted to add my problem to the long list of issues regarding textures. The corruption stays until I quit to Windows and then start the game again.

Cheers.

I fixed my problems with my 4870 by replacing it with a GTX 560TI. Solved all my problems, and I'm a lot more happy. Ati's drivers just seem to svck balls.
I did have the game running on my 4870 with hi res textures without texture corruption though. I just had low framerate and texture pop-in, and crash while loading issues. My video card was a 1gb 4870 and i had 8 gigs of ram though, so your corrupted texture problem might be from not having enough vram?

Same problem with a 5870, as I've replied to a previous post to say.

I'm starting to wonder if they preview drivers have memory management problems, 8K image cache doesn't work with my 1GB card with the latest preview drivers, but it did with the previous iteration. I'm able to play a while, and then eventually I get the same texture problems you have. If you get the issue faster with a 512MB card, I'm wondering if it's leaking video memory somewhere.

I have the same problem with my 5850 I added the launch options and the game worked just fine everything was smooth and gorgeous not a texture out of place, when I reached the entrance of the Ghost Hideout, which is the first indoor level, I quick saved with F5 and I entered the door, Inside all the textures were corrupted so I thought It could have been a loading problem and I went outside to the wasteland again to reload the level but once I got out all the textures of the wasteland that were ok before I entered the Ghost Hideout got messed up.

Oddly enough I get the new area load bug if the Nvidia Control Panel is open on the desktop. Quitting the game, closing the app (I was tweaking) and restarting the game and reloading the saved game where the texture corruption occurred solved the problem.

You might want to close all your other applications before playing the game; see if that helps.

i know you said you used every fix and nothing worked..Have you tried uninstalling all drivers then using driver sweeper in safemode and wiping it out there? Then installing the 11.10v2 drivers? Updating the game with the recent patch from Oct 8th?

Nah I haven't scrubbed with sweeper. Might try that in a month's time if there's still no fix. Grasping at straws imo.

i just registered in this forum right now to post something like this. I had the same problem and i tried everything and don't even know anymore the steps. My problem has become a monster til a moment that Catalyst CC was not installing anymore lol. I had problems with my VGA installation after some tries, startup problems and game crashes.

Just uninstall you VGA, can be done in the windows (be careful with driver sweeper) and re-install using the 11.10 driver. Enable triple buffering in the Catalyst and don't allow any other resource (like AA, etc), then test again. After things is ok, turn on the graphics resources like anti-aliasing, one per time, then you can test which one is the problem.

I have a Radeon 4870HD. Rageconfig.cfg don't work at this moment, this fixed another thing after this problem solved. This can bring you trouble at this time and you might go crazy and even more confused. I have a hi-end config or at least a mid-end (AMD 3.0 x4, 4gb ddr3, Radeon 4870HD 1gb) and that Rageconfig scripts for hi-end and mi-end machines gave me new texture glitches. The low-end scripts don't.

Now i have problems with EVERY new area in the game, but i can fix exiting the game and coming back, but is horrible to play doing this every time. Anybody? tnx

I just arrived in Wellspring, and WHAM, all textures are missing. I used the AMD 11.10 Preview 3 drivers.

Reverted back to Preview 2 driver, and look, everything's fine again.

AMD, this is not funny. Please get your [censored] together. I'll probably not install the 11.10 WHQL drivers since those are probably based on the Preview 3 code.
