Thinking of getting an Xbox and I have questions.

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 4:04 pm

Okay, so as many of you probably know the PS3 version of the game is broken.

I don't see any sign of it being fixed so I'm thinking about getting an Xbox.

My question is will I have to pay for Xbox live to get the download updates?

Thanks.

Nope, all a Gold account does is allow you to interact/play with other members. A free Silver account gives you access to all patches/updates, messaging, and use of the storefront.

Thanks!, what is storefront though? Is that where you buy DLC?

No trouble, and yes, it's where you buy DLC and Live Arcade games.

I just bought a 360 yesterday it was on sale at eb games for 229.99$ Cdn It came with 3 months gold for free, fable 3, and halo reach...... Skyrim no joke looks leagues better on the 360..... it really is unfair for the ps3 users.... I was one of them..... I love gaming and Buying the 360 was a great now I can play gears 1-3, alan wake, halo 3 , reach, witcher 2.......

This really hurts my feelings though.

This is in no way Sony's fault and yet here I go abandoning them for the Xbox.

I've been loyal to Sony since I was 5 years old, that controller is an extension of my body...

But Skyrim's such an awesome game... Damn you Bethesda!

Well you're not really "abandoning them" unless you're trading in your PS3. The Xbox is a great system in it's own right! But yeah, it does seem you PS3 folk consistently get the short end of the stick when it comes to Beth's stuff. Even lamer is that the initial reports were that the PS3 version of Skyrim was superior to the 360's, which I'm sure got everyone's hopes up. Make sure you get the new Slim with a decent hard drive and install all your games. It's whisper quiet!

Haha, but don't install Skyrim until they get the texture issue sorted out. Still, I'd take muddy textures over unplayable lag any day.

Absolutely. I'd rather Morrowind graphics than what I and other faithful Bethesda fans have been experiencing.

What would be a decent hard drive? I'm really on a budget and I can't afford any more than $300.

Ok, new question.

I found an Xbox for sale that is $199, but it's a 4gb model.

4gb??? wtf? that's barely enough to install Skyrim alone!

What's up with this?

And then the next step up is 250gb...

Am I not understanding something or are Microsoft mentally challenged?

It's funny how some people have allegiances to these multi million dollar company's. They don't care about you at all... and some people spend all day on the internet defending them. If xbox offers a superior gaming experience... then you shouldn't feel bad about buying one.

No... those are the only 2 options for the new Slim model... why, I can't tell you. The older models had 20gb, 120gb, etc.

Well... I guess my next question would be, Is the 4gb version even worth getting?

The Xbox doesn't offer a superior gaming experience IMO, Companies like Bethesda don't bother spending the time and money on properly programming games to take advantage of the PS3's superior Cell Processor.

Edit: if more people owned PS3's than Xbox's it would be the other way around. It's all about profit, and in the end, profit usually means someone get's F'd in the A.

Yes, it all comes down to profit... much like everything else. I'm not saying one console is better than the other... just saying if you think Skyrim looks better on xbox and you want to play it the way it was intended... then buy an xbox. That's all I'm saying.

And to your other question... the 4gb is a waste IMO. You can't even install any games on it... I'd spring for the 250gb and be set until the new consoles come out.

I just hate supporting corrupt behavior.

"I know you screwed me and many others over, but here, have 60 more dollars and I'll go ahead and buy the console of the company who's d**k you're svcking"

I can't actually afford the 250gb version at the moment and maybe that's a good thing. I really need to think about things for a while.

One thing is right now, you do not have to worry about installing to the HDD. Thing is, you shouldn't never get a 360 without an HDD since buying one later, just means if you waited and saved up, you can get the latest model fo rthe smae price, unless you are buying used.

I wouldn't buy a used xbox unless it's a price that can't be beat. For $199 4 gig 360, for one, is an older model. For a $100 more you can get the new 250 gigs, so I would strongly suggest you stay away from the aracade version of the 360. It's old.

I picked up a new 250gb 360 a few days ago at Futureshop in Canada for $229 and Skyrim for $35 with the machine (just to play the game on a 360, our old 360 just died). I also have the PS3 version but decided to go the 360 route. My wife is playing the PS3 version now.

Dude, wait until the patch comes out for PS3. You only have to wait another 10 days or so. I know that svcks, but it's better than giving Bethesda even more of your hard earned money for a product they couldn't even release in a playable state.

But if you do end up buying an Xbox 360, do what others have said and go for the 250gig slim model. You don't want to get one of the older models and then have the thing break on you in 6 months.

Oh, and just a reminder: the Xbox version of Skyrim has its problems too. Just take a gander at this forum.
