Bug prevents progress in Hospital level

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 3:26 am

Hey,

I am unable to complete the Hospital defibrillator mission due to the door to the defib room not opening.

I proceed through the level normally - kill the boss and move forward. In the open area right before the defib room I kill all the enemies and continue upstairs. Yet, when I approach the room (i) that contains the defibrillator, I get a red hand at the door (ii). Checking out some youtube playtroughs, I see that the door is supposed to open automatically upon approach. So, naturally I go back and see if I have missed anything. All I get is an odd random spawn of a normal mutant by the collapsed boss (iii) (next to the rocket launcher ammo dispenser).

Any ideas as to what's going on? I really wouldn't want to play the level again as I already had to do that due to a crash.

Thanks!

This is a gameplay bug that unfortunately has hit quite a few people (including me, on my second playthrough). I think you may have to play through that level again, making sure that you get a game save in before you pick up the rocket launcher next time. I know that svcks. :(

IMO id would be better off fixing this kind of bug, as well as the AMD crashes/general crap, rather than investing time and effort into dealing with all the noise being generated about how textures look up close. These should be high-priority fixes and the textures thing should wait on a future patch.

Same exact problem. I have been finding any thread about this glitch and posting in it because I really want id to see how many people this has affected and fix it immediately.

I refuse to start over after 7 hours of exploration and doing every mission available up until this point.

This is ridiculous for a released game to have so many bugs.

You don't need to start over; just start from the last autosave which will be when you entered Dead City Central. From there it's 10/20 minutes absolute max to the appropriate point to do a save (i.e. just before you pick up the rocket launcher). The trigger bug happens sometime during that boss sequence it seems.

I know it's still far from ideal, and still needs to be fixed, but it's nowhere near as bad as starting over.

For me the last autosave point is at Dead City Streets, some 35 minutes before. I think making the player play this much of the game again due to a bug is unacceptable. Implementing an autosave that saves every 5 minutes and to three different slots isn't that much to ask for.

Just do a save often there are like 10 or more spots that can be used, by hitting esc and from the menu pick save.
Doesn't let you name them or anything but if you click on any you have saved below the auto save it will have a picture of were
you where when you did the save. I try now to make one before entering a new mission. That way IF I miss something like a card
I can at least go back & start there. I've played thew Rage now 5 or 6 times, but haven't seen this problem on any of the 3 rigs I been using.
Take that back two rigs the 3rd rig I'm using this is the mission I'm about to start. I have Nvidia video cards in 2 rigs & Intel HD Graphic on this
one I'm playing thew on now. I probably will not finish RAGE on this Intel HD Graphic laptop unless I can get some better frame rate.
With low frame rate its taking twice as long to do anything. I did get some improvement, but still not up to par enough to play all the way threw.
