Armsman Perk and Daggers

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 1:32 am

Does the Armsman Perk in the one-hand tree give a bonus damage to daggers?

If not, I'm just going to perk Sneak to 6x criticals and use a sword instead of a dagger.

Hopefully we can finally get an answer now, although in the 11th hour, I'm not even sure if I want to use daggers in open conflict anymore.

Well, since no one is answering this question, which I know a ton of hopeful daggersassins are waiting on. I suppose I will let everyone know tomorrow afternoon. Should be as simple as getting to level 2 or 3 and checking

Don't count on a solid answer. I've had this question since the perk trees were first fully revealed, and have been asking it since. No one has given me an answer.

All it would take is somebody to look at dagger damage, get the perk, and check dagger damage again. Some people are playing the game today, so it should be very easy to verify.

Just to add in something. Mehrunes Razor has base damage of 11. Ebony Blade is only 13. So the base damage of daggers isn't really far behind one-handed swords.

I can't be really sure a unique item is a valid comparison against a stock one. I bet goldbrand hits pretty hard compared to 2 handers as well :whistling:

I think Ebony Blade is a unique. I used it in Morrowind with my Morag Tong character. Wicked short blade.

Yep, it's a legendary artifact of Tamriel:

Yup, that's one on me, but my argument is still valid. stock weapon comparison would be the only valid indicator. But, that isn't the topic of this thread.

True. To get it back on topic, I am happy that both of these weapons are in the game. There is a chance my assassin in Skyrim will dual wield the Ebony Blade and the Razor at some point. I hope the Armsman perk affects the Razor.

The relation of one hand perks and daggers will be one of the first things I look up in the guide, for sure. If it hasn't already been posted to the boards, I'll let everyone know what I find.

Actually the valid comparison would be the best dagger against the best one-handed sword. Because those weapons are what everyone will use in the end. And that comparison is actually an important factor once we determined the effects of the armsmen perk

We do know the disclaimer about daggers is removed from armsmen's description. For me personally, this is a 90% indication of daggers receiving the damage upgrade. Because it would not make sense to remove it just for the sake of bevity and then have to deal with death threats from dagger fans.

I don't have the strategy guide, and I dunno how many people will have purchased it in ratio to how many will just dive in the game. Assuming the world is big, it might take quite a time to find "best dagger in game." For all those 100s of in the meantime hours, baseline and non-unique comparisons may be more valid, since those will be the tools at hand.

I do have a similar conclusion about the armsmen's perk, but the OP and many others really do want confirmation.

Dagger damage is so low that a 20% boost might not show up , depending on how it rounds. Might need multiple ranks to see it, and then it would be hard to know for sure because of skill gains.

I suspect that the most sneak attack damage will actually come from the 6x perk and a mace, because maces hit so much harder than daggers. But I could be wrong.

He answered "yes" to the question Are Daggers affected by armsmen perks.

So YES Daggers do get better with armsmen, they just dont get any of the Axe/Sword/Mace benefits.
