This post is for those who get the error message "game disc is unreadable" when trying to load or continue.


UPDATE!!!

I think I figured it out!!!

I went into the saved games for Skyrim on my Xbox dashboard: System settings: Memory: (memory device) : Skyrim:
I then deleted my last saved game, which happened to be an autosave. Then I went back into Skyrim and VIOLA!!! I was able to get into the saved games and reload my last manual save!!
I then turned off all the autosave options in the gameplay menu, and then went back into the dashboard and deleted the rest of my autosaves.

Not only has it worked without a hitch so far, but the load save games works a lot quicker, and the games load quicker!

Please try this and post if it works for you!!!

Ok, the above fix worked for me until this morning.

I talked to one other user where the above fix did not work, but I'm not exactly sure of the circumstances of his problem. The above problem and fix applies to when the "disc is unreadable" appears when you try to get to the load game menu (or upon continue), and the "disc is unreadable" comes up before you even get the chance to choose a saved game. That problem seems to be due to one or more corrupted saved game files preventing the load game screen from loading. In my case, it was one or more of the autosaves.

This time however, I was able to get to the load game screen and pick a game, but then when I picked one (any one) I got the same error. While the saved game was loading, the load screen random image would eventually flicker and then I would get the "disc is unreadable" error message. Again, all my other games work except skyrim, so it is not my console.

This time I tried clearing the disc cache from the system menu: memory: (choose device and press Y): clear cache.
Then reloaded Skyrim (which immediately loaded the update 1.1 which was erased with the clear cache command)

It worked. I was again able to load my saved game.

I'll post if THIS stops working.
