Steam is slow, stupid, and annoying.
I bought the game and it started downloading at the amazing speed of 100 kb (I can download at the speed of 1300 kb)... after about 5 hours it got to 7%. that when I got bored and wanted to play another game on steam, which ofc stopped the download. not only that when I started the download again IT STARTED FROM THE START.
so please for the love of games, give me a direct download link.

Yea I've seen that to on some stream downloads. Why I got the hard copy on DVD.
You could probably get it from a pirate site much quicker. lol

I bought the game from steam, the question is if I get the copy from a pirate source will I be able to activate it? I havent seen an actual CD key beeing sent, only a "Confirmation Number".
If that will do, I am not sure how to place it in steam to make it think it was downloaded... but it is still an option, (btw now its downloading like 50 kb)
Still if Bethesda offers a direct download, that will be sweet.

I too have noticed steam delivering poor speeds at the moment - possibly due to large amounts of server traffic due to the autumn sale. I'm glad that I picked it up a physical copy.

It could be possible for you to get a high speed direct download or torrent if somebody used the "Backup local files" function in Steam and put it up for download.
Haven't tried looking for one though.



On a side note - those 1300 kb you are referring to that you can download with, is that what you have previously seen Steam download with, or is that what your internet service provider tells you?
Because the ISP's show speeds in bit and not byte. Since 1 byte = 8 bit, or the other way - 8 bit = 1 byte, if those 1300 kb happen to be 1300 kbit, they would equate to ~160 kilobytes pr. sec

I am aware of the diffrences between actual speeds, and my actual speed is well above 1300 kb per second, on steam (in the past) or downloading torrents.
The speed on steam is changing all day from 0 to 500 k/b, and some times stoping all togther. I bought rage on steam today at about 12 pm and now its 12 am and I got only 30% so far. :/

I looked for such a torrent and could not find one that isnt a cracked copy. I guess I will just leave the pc open and hope for the best, but in all likelihood the game will be 60% or less by morning.

I wouldn't think it make any difference where you got a copy since the key is legit, but it could since I don't really know.
I wish you luck getting up to speed. My max download speed is only 689.1 KB/sec, but I just checked a few places & its down right now
so there maybe a backbone problem Washington DC was slow 380KB/sec, Texas is the speed shown above.

I just woke up this morning and saw "Download pasued" and it was like 90% but didnt say how much... I I clicked on the icon on steam and it started installing, just to pop a black screen and crash. :S

Update: I did a validation to check if all game files are there or missing and it says one game file is missing. Is steam so broken and usless that it just made me wait 24 hours to download the game just to NOT download the entire game forcing me to delete everything and start all over again?! I HATE STEAM.
please SOMEONE give me a link to download the game files before I throw the pc out of the window.

UPDATE:
After I started to download the game again on steam the speed jumped to 1.2-1.4 mb/s. which is a good thing, still I have to wait at least 1-2 hours before I can see if it works this time around... keep your fingers crossed.
Cause if it will fail again, I will seriously be inRAGE.
