Terrible SLI performance

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 5:03 am

I seem to be getting the same framerates in Skyrim regardless of sli being on or off. It is showing that the second card is being used and I have the most updated drivers, but ive tested multiple times and there is little or no gain from sli.

Im running the game in full Ultra settings at 1920x1080 running in high seemed to give me the same frame rate issues.

Most of the time i sit around 60fps but I do drop to the low to mid 40's in towns and such. But ive gone back and forth with sli on and off and seen the same framerates or maybe a 5fps jump.

Anyone know a fix or anything thats in the works?

System specs

i7 970 6-core with HyperThreading 4.0GHz, 6GB Corsair DDR3 1600, 2 500GB HDDs in RAID 0, 2 PNY GTX 460s in SLI

I'm using 2 SLI GTX 460s like you are, and there IS a difference, especially with the new nvidia beta drivers that have the SLI profile. The difference is not huge, and your FPS is high enough that I don't see the issue. However, the SLI enabled DOES really "smooth out" the framerate dips, especially when looking at mountains, which is when my frame dips.

try the CTRL+ALT+DEL fix...

just push CTRL+ALT+DEL after you get into the game completely and are in the skyrim world, and then shortly after hit the ESC key and skyrim should pop back. This is a potential fix for those with crossfire and SLI solutions that are experiencing poor performance.

Using the Beta Nvidia drivers for their SLI profile for the game was a night/day difference for me and my 3xGTX280 setup. Pretty much doubled my FPS across the board. So yah, keep pokin' at it.
