Can we have a Dx11 patch please?

Bethesda ! Is there any chance what so ever of the PC version getting a Dx11 and texture makeover?

I'm loving this game but sometimes i just find myself thinking how much better it could be with a lick of paint.

Too many Smudgy textures and not enough depth. In places i'm sure Oblivion looked crisper and nicer on PC.

Don't get me wrong ,once in a while ,while out side i do come across vistas that look great, but far to often im looking at really blurry awefull textures.

I hate to moan about graphics but this could of looked so much better on the PC.

You cannot just patch in DX 11, its inclusion would require a complete rewrite of the graphics engine. It would require a branching code path so that it would work on older machines without DX 11 along with a hefty collection of compiled shaders, without shaders making the most of DX 11 features; just adding dx 11 compatibility would add nothing to Image quality although it would give a decent speed boost, as it's more efficient.

In short, not a chance in hell, it's at least 12 months of work for a small team, that adds no new content nor generates additional revenue. Your only hope is that Beth designed the code with the intention of adding DX 11 down the line and built in scalability to the engine before release; even then, you are looking at roughly six months work give or take.

Didn't Bethesda say that Skyrim on PC is dx11 compatible ? They used just haven't implented the dx11/10 features?

Its alright I remembered an interview about DX 11 and amended my original post as you were posting the above, however, as I said even designed with scalability in mind it is several months work for a team. A third alternative is that the code path is complete in the source code but the shaders are not completed, in this instance it would be a simple compiler runtime option and a download of the new shaders and the newly compiled .exe.

The general consensus of the articles I've seen on the subject are that some of the framework for Dx11 exists in the game, but it is not fully functional and may become so at a later date.

DirectX11 does not automagically make a game look better. It is merely a framework that allows developers to use more tools and options than DX9 or 10. What you're asking for is an increase in textures, not an increase in Framework.

They added DX10 to Call of Juarez. It's not as big of a deal as you make it.

They also patched dx11 to crysis 2 to give it "ultra" settings (which looks awesome)
Its possible, but i doubt they will

This game looks good enough for me :) If they added tesselation and other intensive dx 11 features, with the performance some high end systems are getting, would it really benefit us??
