12.1 Preview works fine...

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 7:24 pm

... For me!
Same as 11.10 Preview 2:
1920/1080 + high tex cache + 4x AA + VSync on (not smart) = 60 fps stable, no hangs, no bugs, no latency.
q6700@2.6 ghz / 4GB ram / HD6950@6970 2GB / W7 64bit.
I just hope to see same thing at the final version!! :lmao:

Ok John, you can send your patch now =).

=Fakk2=@VenTiLaToR, see you on QuakeLive mates =).

Yep, works great for me too and even provides better textures and runs in crossfire flawlessly.

I tried 11.12 here's the affects: <1 fps. Game only works ok with 11.10 "atioglxx.dll" file in the Rage root directory. Perhaps I should try this one.

Wish.....oh how I Wish the 12.1 Preview drivers had worked for me.

Still waiting for that glorious day when I can get more than 1 FPS after the title screen disappears.

Win 7 64 - AMD chipset - AMD drivers - AMD Radeon 5830.

I'll give it a shot.. will edit the post when I get some results.

Update:

I've tried it out now, solid results.

+ Good performance (constant 60 fps)
+ Memory usage is now reduced it seems (~700-900 MB in Taskmanager, previously ~1300-2500 MB - used to cause problems with megatextures after extended play)

Other notes:
- Still seems to have the stuttering issue when you enable VSync in the game - enable it through the ATi Catalyst Control Center instead!
+ If I set the CPU affinity to 2 cores only instead of 4, the game will run at about ~40-50 fps, some stuttering, but way better than previously which was unplayable

Test system:

AMD Phenom II x4 965 @ 3.4 GHz
ATi Radeon HD 5850 1 GB
8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
Windows 7 64-bit - OS and game installed to the same HDD

Game settings:

Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Multisampling: 8x
VSync: Off
Texture Cache: Large

The file size of 12.1 is 172 meg and 11.12 is only 79meg. What's up with that?

On my 32bit system (XP) the 12.1 preview is worst then the 11.10 preview 2.
I had to unisntall new drivers and reinstall the old ones.
I didnt tried the new drivers with RAGE, but with Saints Row The Third I had continuosly graphic freezes.

Now I have tried Catalyst 12.1. Situation is the same as it is with 11.12. My setup: Radeon HD 5830 1GB / Phenom II 955

Yes, we do use it. I can't say if it is a problem with the individual HD 5830-series of cards, but the game works for me only if the the 11.8 "atioglxx, dll" is in the Rage's root directory.

I am in the same boat only the 11.8 fix works I also have the 5830. 12.1 just gives me the same garbage I have seen since launch.
