Time To Register, Get that Warranty

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 6:50 am

The near-lack of dialogue from Bethesda on this matter, despite the growing number of press coverage, suggests they have not yet fixed this problem with the patch. Hopefully they will, but I doubt they have as of yet.

Ipso facto, warranty up.

It seems people have to repeat this an infinite number of times but I'll repeat:

They aren't allowed to give any official word on what the patch contains before Sony gives it the okay. Simple as that. They've already said informally that it will fix it, what more do you want?

I hope you're right my sweet Squoosh. Nevertheless, I feel that if Bethesda's programmers had a lid on this or were approaching a fix, THEY (PR, I assume you mean) would be told as much and try to add a little positive spin on the growing number of stories featuring this hilariously huge [censored]-up. Knawmean?

Well, DICE didn't release a changelog for the latest BF3 patch until the very night it was released, about 3-4 hours before. We can hope that Beth will release one in the same matter.

They submitted it for certification, there's been no word it's been certified yet.

I'm not even looking for a changelog—my point is Bethesda is not responding to the biggest names in VG media for comment in the slightest when they run these stories. Wouldn't you throw out a quick "WE GOT THIS" if you had faith your patch would successfully address this issue? Would certainly put thousands of minds at ease, no?

In any case, again, why not register just in case they do not got this:

But they HAVE done that!

This patch will address "long-term play on PS3"

I've seen a lot of people complaining about how unspecific, and how increasingly dated, this comment, released as an @user twitter message, is, and in the world of PR, the time between a problem occurring and a solution occurring is supposed to be rife with specific, updated feedback. When IGN calls for a word, you should probably have something to point to besides an angry tweet.

Again, I want it to be fixed, but Squoosh, you see how registering isn't the worst idea here, no?

Bump. This is super important. Bethesda has a little hidden caveat in the back of their manual stating that if you don't register your game at their website within thirty days of purchase you lose your right to claim a 90 day warranty. They are banking on that. It takes a minute or two at most, click the link and go do it. Here is that link again: http://www.gamesas.com/eng/register.php

THERE ARE 18 DAYS LEFT TO REGISTER YOUR GAME SINCE THE RELEASE DATE OF 11-11-11. DON'T FORGET, PROTECT YOUR WARRANTY

So as long as I register, I can get a refund?

The way I understand it is you have a standard 30 day warranty at the place of purchase to redeem your bought item at. On top of that there is a manufacturers warranty that is 90 days. However to be protected under the 90 day warranty you need to register the product with them.

Not to say that you shouldn't register your game (I always register everything that can be registered) but there's some pretty amazing misunderstanding of what a warranty actually does here. You seem to be implying that you could just walk into a store and say "This is under warranty, give me a refund" and they'll give your money back. Or that you could send it to Bethesda and get a full refund that easily. That's not at all the case.

Warranty =/= easy refund.

Well a warranty should allow you to return a defective product for repair, replacement or refund.
Now whats a defective product? I would say a product that doesn't meet the purpose it was bought for. The purpose is playing a game until the end. It's defective in that you cannot complete the game due to programming errors.

Registered, just in case - had to chuckle when the page opened and the banner advert is for "Dishonoured" , pretty much how Beth is percieved by the PS3 community atm. ;)

Thank you so much (This is my first reply).

Though I really wanted the coming patch would fix the main problem(s).
