Wasteland 2 is the direct sequel to the first ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG. The original Wasteland was the inspiration for the FALLOUT series of games, and the first RPG to allow players to split parties for tactical considerations, to face players with moral choices, and to make them deal with the consequences of their actions. It was the first to provide far more than the one-key-for-one-lock style of puzzle solving. It was groundbreaking, which is why IGN named it one of the top 25 PC games of all time, Computer Gaming World named it the Adventure Game of the year in 1988, and it was short-listed for inclusion in the Smithsonian Institution’s current “Art of the Computer Game” exhibition.

So as of this morning Brian Fargo confirmed they will be using the Unity Engine and he also said that the first screenshot may be coming soon, he has also stated that he is hoping to release a snippet of music.

Of course, the term "soon" was used, so who knows how long that'll be.

inXile has still not sent out their surveys; but it could be that they are waiting until they have something to send a survey out for.

http://jaggedalliance.gamigo.com (currentyl in beta). I haven't actually played it due to the lack of a Linux plugin :hehe:, but people over at The Bear's Pit have been positive about it, despite the online free-to-play nature necessitating certain design decisions.

There's also a http://unity3d.com/gallery/made-with-unity/game-list of games made with it :).

Between Endless Space, Kerbal Space Program, and Desktop Space Dungeons, this seems like just another engine.*

There was Battlestar Galactica, I've never played it, but it did look good.

I'm sure we'll have a better idea of how the game will look once tge screen shot is released.

Also, thanks to whomever added the links to the thread for me. It looks so much nicer.

Doesn't look half bad (presentationwise). From the looks of it, Unity appears to suit well enough for what WL2 intends to do.

Am I the only one who feels that if you are playing a game in a browser, it's not a real game? I'm sorry, browsers are just that, a browser. It's something used to "browse" things, like forums, online stores, porm. Not for playing anything serious like a game.

I'm glad inXile isn't making Wasteland 2 a browser game, if they were I'd be incredibly pissed off.

Just spit balling. Plus, a lot of the games made witg Unity were browser based.

I know Wolfenstein is now browser based, which is fine I guess, it was a PC game first. I won't be playing it in a broswer.

You can play Bastion in a browser now!? Awesome! A great game!

Also, from the looks of it Unity is just great for WS2, can't wait for the first screenshot to come out.

I was watching the Jagged Alliance Online video (browser based using Unity) and the engine definitely lends itself well to a top down/isometric viewpoint. I too can not wait for the screenies to start showing.

I really hope this turns out well, unity 3d is a great engine but I don't know about Inxile. Their latest game Hunted The Demon's Forge flunked from what I remember.

Although they at least know how to run a business, so we're basically guaranteed to actually get a game (unlike so many other kickstarters) and with design help from Chris Avellone, there's a considerably better chance it'll even turn out to be a good one.

Did you play it? or are you just going by how much money it made?

by god the gamers are starting to think like game companies, if it makes no money its a bad game. (not saying you think that, just something I notice a lot these days).

Well it also wasn't terribly well received by critics, or players, both groups have given it around 60 on meta critic.
