Cool - I'm going to check it out and see if there's any difference to the preview of it. Will report back in a little while..

Edit: Disappointing results. Seemed to freeze a lot - like once every 10 seconds.. I do not recommend using this driver (unless it's working fine for everyone else. Maybe, who knows?)

Spoiler
I'm seriously wondering what the AMD driver creators are smoking - this is like the 7th broken driver or somewhere around those parts..
Previous driver I used was fine though (It was either the 12.1 Preview or 12.1a Preview driver)

System Specs:
OS: Win7 64-bit Home Preium
Misc: OS+Steam+Game on same HDD (lots of IO bloat, but w/e)
GPU: ATi Radeon HD 5850
CPU: AMD Phenom 965
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz

Either they get Rage to play or other games, but not both and are having similar problems with their new 7970. Somebody needs to be fired or they've bitten off more then they chew with Rage and the new southern islands architecture.

Maybe they should get the ID team to help them further with their drivers.. although that would be quite humiliating for AMD.

AMD's a multi-billion dollar corporation and sells even professional $6,000.oo graphics cards. If I had to guess the problem is Rage is just radically different from other games and its causing them headaches just when they're already having headaches trying to put out new drivers for the 7000 series video cards which are also radically different from their previous video cards. Basically, they've just dumped too much on the programmers all at once.

Id's been working to help them sort it out since day one, but there's no way they can possibly know AMD's video card drivers better then AMD and no way AMD would allow them to make Rage more of a priority then their newest $550.oo graphics cards.

Heck I can even play Rage on Intel HD graphic on CPU chip. "laptop U50F" Not well but it does play, doesn't really look bad either.
There is quite a bit of popin, slow texture loading and low frame rate. I been looking for a AMD card for a while to buy
mostly at Newegg open box section "so I can get a low price" but there grabbed up as fast as there posted, 5850 or 5870
just so I could see these problems first hand. Not like I could help or anything, more that I just wanted to try a ATI/AMD card
for a while. Last card I had from this maker is a ATI 300. lol Still using it in a 775 socket M/B Q9650 just for internet access.

It could be the freezes still persist with this driver because it's supposed to be tied with the oft mentioned upcoming Rage Patch. Yet where is this patch AMD speaks of anyway? Still waiting and the silence is getting very annoying.

Lo Guys.
I experienced some long freezes (more than 1 second) during the first half hour after installing this driver (level: Prison), but since that, I played more that five hours without any prob. Perhaps the texture cache take time to be re-created with new parameters, don't know.

I think like u that getting system + cache + game folder on the same hard drive can't help!

Try to load various maps during some time, minuts, and get out of the game, to reload it, perhaps it helps (i hope!).

About the update, i found http://www.idsoftware.com/, there is an iphone update available, ours (PC) is near, i just hope it wil be free for us, regarding what happends for PC gamers  .

Anyway, good news  , no?

Seeya.
