[Idea] Materia Magicka Mod

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 5:11 am

There was an idea for a mod back in Oblivion/Morrowind that I had an idea for, I decided against it back then, but I think it'd be a better idea now, mainly because they've taken out the ability to create spells.

The idea is basically a Materia system (from FFVII) for Skyrim, that is, items that you can equip to give you spells or abilities. I plan on either tying how many you can equip to the quality of your gear (probably just a few sets of gauntlets) or just have it be nebulous and tied to your Magicka stat.

The materia can level up, depending on how many times you use the spell, and they then offer more powerful spells, or maybe even some perks (either ones taken from the perk trees, or new ones)
(For example, a Summon Atronach materia could be Summon Flame Atronach->Summon Frost Atronach->Summon Storm Atronach->Elemental Power)

This would mainly be a scripting mod, as I have the most experience with scripting, and while I have a little experience with reskinning I'd need help for a model for the materia, if anyone wants to help.

Before I do anything, though, I want to see if anyone would be interested in playing the mod at all. Or if they have any ideas that could help. I can't work on this until the CK is released, so now is the time.

Little bit of a bump and I've edited the main post to make it read more clearly.

I also might add some more summons and more custom spells.

You have my sword.
I'd love to see this done - bit of lore bending but otherwise, not a total immersion killer.
