What Was That Cartoon

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 1:13 am

The wife and I have been having some cartoon nostalgia, reminicing about Ulysses 31, Battle Of the Planets and Space Sentinels.

But this has made me remember 2 cartoons that I can't quite remember what they are.

The first was set in a place where the moon had cracked and this had adversely affected the Earth. All I can really remember is the cracked moon from the beginning.

The second featured what looked likea Triceratops that fired balls of lava out of it's horns.

Not much to go on but does anyone know what cartoons these came from?

Cheers

You sir are a scholar and a genius.

This has made me think of another cartoon that was was on probably just a few years later.

It wasn't a series but was an animated film (if I remember right) which was rare for the time.

It seemed to be centred around the darker side of Rock n' Roll and if I remember right seemed laden with satanic imagery or suggestions (pentangles, club 666 etc...).

It had a mature air to it, depicting busty women in tight fitting clothes...

But before anybody panics that this was some sort of advlt anime it was aired on terrestrial television.

Ring any bells?

Cheers again.

Is it just me or does that Tundarr cartoon remind you of Star Wars? The main guy has a "lightsaber" and there is a beast sounding awfully similar to a wookie! :P

First off, it's THUNDARR the Barbarian with an "H".

Secondly, oh...I don't have a second.

Thundarr was a badass cartoon, the 1980's had some epic cartoons.

Makes me think of the original http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082509/.

It was definitely advlt though, I remember nudity. Maybe a censored version was made for tv. I've seen it on one of the Showtime channels once but that one was uncensored. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La_7KO1tn9o is what it looked like animation wise.

No - but as soon as it started playing, I thought it was a He-Man episode. Did the same people make it?

It was "Rock and Rule".

They got away with showing it on TV because it was funded in part by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. It was aired on Canadia TV n 1984 with "parental warnings".

It might have been smut but it was CANADIAN smut so that made it ok, eh?
