FPS problems

Hi
I brought rage recently and I'm having huge fps drops this only happens when entering a new area for example when leaving the town via my garage, I click wasteland and I'm placed outside the main gate in my buggy my framerate drops from solid 60 to 5 this happens for around 20 seconds then it goes back up to 60. I was thinking it was something to do with loading the map as scenery is really low res while this is happening it also happens when leaving a inside area, ghost bandit area for example and when i start a race. Has anyone experienced this issue? and is there a known fix for it? any advice would be very helpful as I cannot find anything relating to this bug thankyou in advance.

pc spec
i7 920 stock values (2.66Ghz)
6GB ram
evga gtx 460sc

Also when validating my local content via steam it said 1 file needs to be reaquired then does not download it.
thanks again

I'm having the exact same issue. After most loading screens my framerate drops right down to an unplayable rate for about 20 seconds. Then goes back up.

I'm running an EVGA 560ti

RAGE doesn't depend nearly so much on your graphics card as it does on your CPU, RAM, and (particularly) your HDD. If you're using an old HDD (as in one with a big serial plug), you can expect massive slow downs like these on a regular basis. To alleviate your pain, all you can do is get a more modern SATA drive, which is about 10x faster. Plug it into a 6 GB/s plug on your motherboard and you'll see what I mean.

I'm running the game off a SSD. I have 8 GB of RAM and an i7 processor.

I just had that I changed the AA to 8X and it was gone.... Crap programming ... Lol putting the Game on a ssd . Dude it will load fine off a 7200RPM driver , it's just a bad port just try and run it with lower AA.

It's not a port.

It's not a port.

OK, broken record. So if it's not a port what is it?

I guess you understand by now there are several major platforms the game runs on apart from the IOS stuff. Those are windows and the xbox which have many similarities although the windows executable wll not run on the xbox. There is the PS3 which is quite different and has it's own set of problems and advantages. Then there is the *nix platform which is what the Mac and perhaps at some point Linux will run.

All three of these executables, the engine if you will although that's oversimplifying, use the same data set, the art. The executables themselves though are very different.

So without porting the code, how did they accomplish this?
