question about magicka

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 8:46 am

alright, im playing a high elf, he is consisting of magic spells, nothing BUT magic spells.

so im strolling through a dungeon, i see two mages, and i kill one. but now my magicka is COMPLETLY drained and its taking too long for it to come back. but that doesnt seem to be a problem for the other guy, hes tossing firebolts at me like they were going out of style. doesnt seem like he has to worry about running out of magicka.

do NPCs have this unfathomably large well of magicka? cause i dont, i cast 5 or 6 spells and im out. 5 or 6 spells is barely enough to kill ONE guy, much less two or three.

what im saying is that am i suppose to have so little magicka and have it charge SO slowly during fights? isnt it a bit stupid, seeing as warriors dont have much of a problem giving hit after hit after hit after hit?

are mages just underpowered and im just going to have to wait for a patch to fix them?

Pretty sure you're just doing it wrong.

There are loads of mage threads around here that will tell you they're underpowered. If that's the wish you go and I'm getting trolled, good job.

On point, yes it seems enemies have larger pools of magic, though lightening drains them pretty quick. There are perks that will allow you to deal more damage with spells, so the same amount of magicka = more damage. I'm pretty sure Beth did this so you couldn't just stand there and lay waste to everything, you'll have to be more tactical. I will often throw out a conjuration if I'm low so I have something to distract my enemy while I slink off to a corner to chug a potion or use my High Elf racial power. Speaking of which, High elves have an awesome racial power, keep it handy! And happy finger wiggling!

Well it matters on a couple of things you do that effects how your mage turns out im playing a pure mage to no weapons.

1. what perks have you've been focusing on.

2.have you been choosing magicka to increase each time you lvl up

3.what time of equipment to you have on ie robe enchantments.

And no NPC do not have that big of a mana pool either it best when they put up a ward just wait to the ward falls thats when you know they've ran out of mana so kill them while they're powerless
