Can't Load anything, cant save anything

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 1:11 am

This is my second post concerning this bug. I have narrowed the issue down to not being able to load or save games. I can start a completely new game, play it but when I go to try and save a game or load a different game I get the error that the disc is unreadable. The disc is not scratched. Before this happened I was having major freezing issues that were getting progressively worse. At this point, I can not even play the game because I can't save or load anything. This is extremely disappointing to me. I have cleared the cache, tried installing to my HD (get the same error at 3% everytime). Nothing is working. I love this game and can't drop another 60 bucks. I borrowed a friend's CD just to test it, I still get the same issue. So it makes me think the files got corrupted somehow. I don't even know where to go for help, does Bethesda have a tech helpline for 360s? I bought it for xbox specifically because I did not want to worry about these kinds of issues. Seriously, any help is appreciated.

Sounds likely that your xbox is on it's way out, judging by the fact the disc stop's installing at 3% most likely indicate's your disc drive is faulty, i have had the same problem twice, some game's would still work and some would not but eventually i would get an 'open tray' error or game's simply not reading.

I am suspecting that but why would I still be able to play a brand new game? Is it my hard drive or my disc drive? If its not my hard drive, I can go test it on a different machine tomorrow and see if my xbox really is screwed. Its over 5 years old at this point, I have been waiting for it to crap out. Thanks for the reply.

It does have some of the symptoms of a dying disk drive. However the fact that it only happens when trying save/load from the HDD suggests otherwise. Have you tried to install or save the game to a USB drive? Have you put in a different game and tried to access saved files for it? The chances that it's actually the disk are slim.

The chances that it's not your console crapping out are even slimmer. Frankly I amazed to hear there's an Xbox still alive and kicking after 5 years.

No problem, 5 year's thats a strangely long life for an xbox! Test the Hard Drive on another xbox that should help you determine the problem.
