The VSync fix doesn't work. Any other way to do it?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 12:34 pm

The fix posted on this forum was:

How do I fix the vsync ("laggy mouse") problem?

1. Go to your Steam Directory -> steamapps -> common -> skyrim -> Skyrim
2. Create a backup of the SkyrimPrefs.ini file
3. Open the file, then scroll down to where it says [Display]
4. Add to the bottom of the section iPresentInterval=0
5. Save, exit, and play

This dll http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ICEDIU66 fixed the Crossfire performance issue (otherwise I would have to disable Crossfire), but even doing as cited above I'm still stuck at 60 FPS. The screenshot below shows that both VGAs are active, and the FPS.

Does someone know any other method to force the game to turn off this &%$ยจ%#$%#@ VSync?

Any help will be much appreciated.

The problem is you have to add that line in Skyrim.ini NOT SkyrimPrefs.ini

I had the same problem..some of the posts or guides are listed wrong.
I had to turn mine back on because the Frames were anywhere from 100-250 and it made the game wonky (as others have reported)

BTW, What program are you using to display FPS? It's much nicer to view than FRAPS. I hate FRAPS. I usually use ATI Tray Tools..but just curious what you are using there.

Oh my, thank you very much, I'll give it a try!

Is this ini file in the game main folder? I know there is one there (edit 2: no, there is not... there is one called Skyrim_default.ini), just asking because maybe there is another one with the same name in another folder, I don't know...

Edit: BTW, under which section, "display"?

The one in Documents/My Games/Skyrim and put it under [Display] at the end of everything else.

@NewYears1978, just to let you know it worked. Sometimes it reaches almost 300 FPS, and I'm NOT experiencing any issues... ;)

Valuable tip, thanks once again.

I just saw you have edited your post. I am using MSI Afterburner. ;)

My SkyrimPrefs.ini already contained a line that said iPresentinterval=1, so I assumed that was the file that had to be changed.

I didn't even look in Skyrim.ini. I'll check it out, too.

No problem :P Thanks for the MSI Afterburner reminder..used to use it and forgot. FRAPS works fine..but it's only FPS, can't get CPU/GPU usage..and it's ugly text and large..and non editable.
