Game Sets Me at Ultra

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 7:08 am

What Im wondering is if maby I need to do some optimization or mabe tweek some settings. I started playing with the settings in my catylist control center and all that did was make it worse. I even lowered it to High and there is no difference in preformance. Any ideas? Just put it to low and still like every 10 steps its like the game slows down tremendously just for a second,,,,,its freaking annoying but whats wierd is it does not happen every where and combat is fine.

Whats your issues? You might want to be a bit clearer on your problem before anyone helps you.

Given the ignorance with which Bethesda named the official System Requirements, I imagine that the Launcher was created equally stupidly.

Set the quality settings sensibly and ignore the launcher's error.

You might wan't to try setting the Catalyst Control Center to Factory Default. I had a problem the same as yours, but the reset fixed it.

Well like I edited above the game sets me at ultra but like every 5-10 steps the game slows kinda jerks like I feel like dragonborn is gonna get whiplash. Some outside, some even inside where preformance should be at its peak. Sometimes the game runs smoother in and environment that it should run worse like combat whith multiple enemys.

Ignore the first part of this comment and follow the second.

It appears to me that there is simply a lot of hardware issues. These can and will be fixed in patches, so if your computer SHOULD be able to run at Ultra, my guess is that some time soon it probably will.
My computer, seen below, can run BF3 almost all the way up. But Skyrim auto-detects at High, and is unplayable at Ultra where it should be. I haven't been able to narrow down the culprit because I'd rather play the game on High than not at all.
That said, my dad's computer auto-detects at Ultra even though it is fairly weaker than mine.

I just tried that and it shrank my 1080p monitor screen down by like, half an inch in each corner. Still haven't been able to fix it. Ugh.

Just found this out while playing that this jerking only happens when in first person and not in third. Anyone know what this is and how to fix it.

Try turning AA off (switching to FXAA after is optional) and turning Shadows down from Ultra to High. From what I've experienced, this game has some weird issues with AA and shadows. See if that helps you out.
