Well since Id and Bethesda can't seem to, or don't want to get rage to work. I thought I would give it another try.First off a friend of mine and I decided to try something I have suspected for a while. Through a large amount of begging and a little borrowing we got ahold of 3 HD 4650's made by different manufactures. we tested each one in my system with the 11.8 and the 11.10 preview 2 drivers. One card ran Rage fine on the 11.8 drivers the other two had problems (anyone who has been on these forums knows the problems). We then uninstalled the 11.8 drivers and did a clean install of the 11.10 preview 2 drivers. One of the cards that had problems with the 11.8 drivers ran fine on the 11.10 p2 drivers. One of the cards did not work with either driver. The only things that we changed on my system was the cards and the drivers. Draw your own conclusions.
Now on to how I got my (i'll use the word loosly)GAME to run with my Hd 5750.
First off I do not recomend this fix to anyone I just wish to place it out in the general Knowldge so to speak.
1. I downloaded and installed a no cd patch to replace the steam Rage exe.
2. I downloaded and placed the beta opengl atioglxx.dll in my rage folder.
Now for the first time since the oh so great patch I can play. Stem shows I have over 14 hours of play time. This counts the 2 hours before the patch and the 2 hours after applying this fix. the rest of the time has been spent in short 3 and 4 minute tests getting this to work.
I must admit that I can't save and that the game crashes during some transitions but at least I can try to salvage some of the money I lost on this game.
Wish someone could put down the money they are collecting for this B grade broken game and let the community know if and when there is going to be a patch and if so what to expect in the patch.
