new tv problem

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 5:53 am

so yesterday my tv decided to die. i bought a new one which is just all round better (hd, 1080p, 100hz).

i set the tv up and turned my xbox on and booted up skyrim. but as soon as i started to play, i was getting a blurry screen when turning my character, also what i think people refer to as a 'ghost' on the screen (most noticable when looking at the marker at the centre of the screen and the sides of the screen). i'm using a hdmi cable (same as my old tv) running the game at 1080p, 60hz and expanded reference levels (i also tried standard and got the same thing) and rgb hdmi color space.

i really need help with this and would appreciate any input, thanks.

I'm guessing its the 100hz vs 60hz refresh rate.

Could be completely wrong on that front how ever.

What model and is there any extra picture options for your TV ( dynamic contrast, edge enhancement, LED motion, blur reduction, etc) ?

thanks for the replies.

after a bit of tinkering i think i've solved the problem. it wasn't a setting on the xbox but rather on the tv. something called true motion. all i did was turn it off and the picture was 100% clear.

thanks again for the replies.

If its a larger high end TV its also likely it has a "game mode", as my TV is 800 CM (hz) there is a delay between what you do on your controller and the response on the TV. It's not so needed on RPGs but more on shooters or games where you need quick reactions.

Game mode will stop the controller lag and the fuzzing when moving around, the only downside being there a slight degradation in graphical quality.
