Can you "Improve" Blades Armor?

Can you use Smithing to improve blades armor? It didn't fall under perk I could see that "improves by double" but to what level can I improve it?

I improved it, if I was home I could tell you more.

You can say improve it (and any item really) to superior, epic, legendary etc. You however have to be a certain BS lvl before you can. (lvl 100 BS here). I had to be lvl 100 to improve my Dawnbreaker to Legendary quality.

Not sure if there is a way to tell by BS level what you can do.

If you have improved something to lets say Epic quality, can you later augment it to Legendary? Also, by level, I assume you mean skill level and not player level, right?

Edit: Also, do you recall what raw materials you needed to improve your Blades Armor?

Yes, skill level.

Also to answer the later upgrading, yes.

I had to wait like 5 lvls from 95 BS to 100 to finish Dawnbreaker's legendary upgrade.

Hope that helps.

FYI, if you want to the best way to lvl it is just to make Iron Daggers. It still takes time and money so it's not as broken if you don't do it at a low level and nothing else. (or if you don't steal your gold back)

Very cool, thank you! One last question! Are there any perk prerequisites for improving an item to legendary status?

You can only improve Blades armor up to 'Exquisite'. I think the armor rating for the chest maxes out at like 86 or so, I don't recall what it is exactly.

Ah okay wasn't sure for blades because once I got high enough to care to upgrade it again I made my ebony armor.

@Chief: Dawnbreaker is a quest reward for clearing out a temple for Meridia.

Roughly how far into the MQ do you get the Blades Armor? The reason I ask is I don't want to go too far into the story and get it, as I want Dragonsbane to scale relatively high.

Can you only improve Blades armor to "Flawless" because it isn't listed as an armor you can "Improve Twice as Much" in the perk tree?
