Quick Reflexes against DWing Enemy Glitch

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 8:42 am

Basically, if you have Quick Reflexes and Block during a DW'ing enemy's standing power attack, you will get stuck in slow motion for, as far as I've bothered to see, forever -- even long after you've killed the enemy.

I do not know what the exact triggers are, but if you are block when a DWing enemy is doing their power attack, you can get locked. I do not know if you actually have to get hit for it to happen or not, but it does happen. Twice now for me, in fact.

Oh, and I also would like to point out that after you use your standing power attack while dual-wielding, armor on your character's shoulders will shift in an odd manner. Although there's a plethora of issues with dual-wielding as it stands, so meh.

Just had it happen again -- but this time it was against a Dremora Lord that was using a 2h sword. Standing power attack again, and I did bash it, but am yet again locked in slow-motion. Tried using the Slow Time dragon shout to override it, but it won't allow me to use it when there's already a slow-motion in effect.

EDIT: Zoning into a new area has fixed it. But this is odd, because I tried that the last time this happened and it didn't work then. Not sure why there's an inconsistency with that.
EDIT 2: Maybe because the trigger for it this time was a summon and not an actual NPC? Throwing that out there in-case it is pertinent.

I've decided to avoid it for now because of this issue. However if you always have a companion with you it may not be so bad. I've heard that talking to a companion will bring you out of slow-mo.

I don't know. I block regularly, and have only had it happen to me 4-5 times (although, with that said, I just had it happen to me twice in a row.) Last two times it happened I was able to clear it by loading into a new area, but I've had that not work before.

Oh, and this time, it happened with a Corrupted Shade that was only using a 1-handed weapon. I couldn't really tell if it was during a standing power attack or not, but I did bash. It seems like bashing may possibly be the trigger.

EDIT: Never mind. It's not bashing that causes it. Just happened AGAIN, and I didn't bash this time.

With the slow time dragon shout, im wondering how useful this perk would be anyway. I guess to give you a different shout to use if in one on one combat, but usually i use the dragon shout effect quite alot

I've had it for a long time without much trouble, the few times (3 or 4) I've gotten stuck in slow-mo It's only been for 30-40 seconds

Well, with the slow time dragon shout -- at least for what I've seen of it (only one tier) -- you yourself are also slowed. With quick reflexes, everything else save you is slowed down. I prefer saving my shout CD for tactical Unrelenting Force usage personally anyways.

See, I really didn't have much issue with it up until today -- for whatever reason. In a total playtime of around an hour and a half today, I've experienced it 4 times. They've been fixed every time today by loading up a room, though. Still extremely annoying.

EDIT: Edited out a superfluous capitalization.
EDIT 3: Just happened again... Its occurrence-rate has really shot up.

Btw, it won't matter what type of melee weapon the enemy is using, it has the chance to glitch anytime the animation activates, but I guess you've probably figured that out by now.

Yep, I just hit occurrence numero 9. Pretty clear it just happens when it damn well pleases. Sigh.

EDIT: Okay, just tested how long it lasts. It does end on its own accord, but it takes a minute or two. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be fixed- it's annoying as Hell and happens way too God damned often. >.<
