PS3 broke

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 3:57 am

Skyrim has been running fine for me except for some occasional frame rate spikes in whiterun and some of the other holds. The game started to break for me when I reached around 50 hours on the savegame. I started having these 1 sec screen freeze every 6-7 sec or so, fighting a dragon ended up being a major slideshow.

I have read on these and other boards about frame rate issues so I decided to wait for patch and play some other games instead. I started loading up Dungeon Hunter Alliance and during load screen the audio started popping and graphics flickering, after further testing every game had freezes, graphics flickering, sound jumping.

I have tried a rebuild of database that did nothing, guess I will have to try reformat entire PS3 before I contact Sony support.

I usually don't blame games for breaking hardware but I think there are some serious issues with how Skyrim uses the hardware.

My PS3 is the 160 GB slim edition and it's about 6 months old.

That being said, I love the game and it really svcks not being able to play.

It's definitely not the games fault....Maybe it's the hardware of your PS3....

But because you say that your console id 6 months old...i would do the recovery console think...and fix your filesystem.....

You bought your console new or second hand....??????????

Games can cause a ps3 to break.
Chances are slim, but with the right stress on cpu, memory and harddrive can cause overheating or voltage peaks.
If ps3 doesnt shut down in time it can fry the hardware.

If you not shut down your console properly...its your fault....not the disk....you now....

I did a full reformat of the entire PS3, tested with a few games but still constantly freezes during gameplay.

I guess time to contact Sony and get it serviced.

Use the search, already 2 locked topics on this issue.

To claim a game disk - any game disk - will break a console is wrong. Sorry. The only time we ever seen this particular fallacy is when people are upset in general. I've seen the argument also lobbed at other games breaking the xbox console as well, and it is equally not true then either. I'm trying to work with some of you guys, as you well know. Most of you guys are smart and knowledgeable, so think about this stuff before you go all PS3 conspiracy dance party. Appliances mess up sometimes.

Don't worry folks, Mark and Gerrard are right. Despite how much more often PS3's die with Bethesda games in them than any other company's games, it's all pure coincidence.

All of it. Every single case, just coincidence.

COINCIDENCE.

Which means that PS3 was DEFECT already or the ventilation was clogged with dust. A cpu or gpu should not break down like that no matter how hard it is stressed, unless there is something seriously wrong with hardware or cooling already.
If this is normal thing for the PS3, then they are flawed by design.

Why do people complain about fallout? NV and F3 have always worked fine when I play.

It also helps if you clean your system, like later today I need to clean my TV because it has dust building up on it. A clean product is a happy product, disk get scratched up when you run them with specs and fingerprints on them.

Any possibility of you actually showing some proof of that or you just pull that one out of thin air?

You cant blame a game for breaking your ps3. I have heard of THREE ps3's breaking and how many copies of skyrim have been sold? if it were an issue we would all be having the same problem.

PS3's fail at RANDOM, yet everyone blames the game. My launch model failed after 4 years with Uncharted 2 so that game MUST have caused it *sigh*. The bottom line is that electronics FAIL. Some faster than others and there are COUNTLESS variables: Ventilation, dust, temperature, playing time, etc. etc. QUIT BLAMING THE GAME. No one game is going to stress out a PS3 anymore than another. Skryim barely makes my slim sweat. Jesus people...
