a new age of fantasy...

right now, i have to pages up, the Skyrim boards and the HBOGO app running A Game of Thrones!!! i believe we are living in a great age for fantasy fiction. between shows like True Blood and games like Dragon Age and Skyrim, theres so many worlds to explore, could we ask for anything more?
and of course we have stuff like the witcher 2 (and 1 of course) the lord of the rings games LOTRO and War in the North. although i still feel like the possible crowning jewel of the lord of the rings games is yet to be, who will do it honor? who doesnt want to explore Middle~Earth like the bethesda games? being able to travel from hobbiton to Rohan seamlessly, or following a river for miles until you stumble upon a cave filled with riches and guarded by a troll...

i just feel like, as soon as you decide to make a game with the fewest amount of seems, with a large world to explore, your creating something that can't be experienced any other way. i love DA2, but I will never know what it feels like to walk out the gates of a city and wander the country side taking in the (virtual) smells, and a sunset, right as a gang darkspawn leap from a twisted forest, ready to take my sanity.

thats what Skyrim does, and so so god damned well.

so, what other fantasy worlds are you guys experiencing right now that you would like to commune?
