[REQ] Remove or Boost Enchantments

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 6:20 am

So I have found that over the course of the game, as I get better at enchanting, it is usually more worthwhile to personally enchant things versus getting 'fancy quest loot'. I routinely find that my own personal enchantments outstrip what is supposed to be worthwhile gear. With such awesome looking reward armor like the Nightingale set, it is annoying that my personally enchanted Dragonscale armor makes the reward seem like a silly waste of time, despite how incredible it looks.

That all being said, my request is pretty basic. I'd like to have a way to remove or improve the lesser enchantments (kind of like how in Smithing you can improve armor quality). As an alternative, having sets of blank gear to personally enchant is also acceptable, but the former would be much cooler and useful!

I would be interested in something like this if it was along the lines of crafting or commissioning an unenchanted replica piece of gear from an NPC, rather than a remove/overwrite enchant feature. Mainly because of an ingame book by a master enchanter that states pretty clearly that you can only enchant something once... and while that could easily be a designer's copout I would prefer to have a lore-friendly solution :)

Like the idea, but I have to agree with...

Because removing enchantments from Deadric Artifacts would break the lore big time. I'm working on becoming a lore buff.

I was unaware that there was lore regarding enchanting. I also prefer to remain lore friendly. In that case, being able to commission replica gear would be excellent.

It would be pretty nice if we could smith fancy items or perhaps remove the enchantments, perhaps by a modded in "Enchanting Ritual" similar to the other magic school rituals.

Who says? People have been able to tamper with and even destroy Daedric Artifacts in the past and in Skyrim there is more of that than ever.

I do not know about this lore, so I would like to know if this would break the lore:

An enchant can be replaced by another enchantment of the same type if the new enchantment is stronger. Perhaps there could also be pre-requisites for this (like: item needs to be fully charged, first).
