Where can I buy a dog? I really want one! :3

As far as I'm aware, you can't. That would be pretty cool though.

Outside of Markarth. I believe he costs 500 septims.

Somebody posted in another thread that you can, one 'problem' is that it barks constantly and gets rather annoying rather fast.

There are supposed to be 3 dog companions.One at Markarth stables for $500,one called Meeko out in the wilderness near Hjaalmarch and a stray dog from a random encounter.

my mistake, apologies. I had not yet visited Markarth.

I decided to buy him since I had more gold than I thought. He's cute and protective, but he also barks constantly. I found myself making him wait outside dwellings and shops whilst I went in to talk to whoever.

I think I have a glitch.

I found a stray dog outside Helgen and brought it back home to Whiterun. I told it to wait inside my house. I saved my game and reloaded it only to find my dog wasn't there.

The dog didn't come back when the save file reloaded. It just disappeared...

I've tried to buy another dog in Markath but the guy told me I already have an animal. I'm not sure if he meant my invisible dog or the horse.

Does anyone know the console command to retrieve or remove the dog?
