Corrupted Save File - Help!

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 12:17 pm

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to repair a corrupted save file. When i search the net some sites say you can't and some say "sure, do this, this and that and voila!" It doesn't work for me. 60 hours down the drain and for no reason at all. I saved my game as i usually do for this game and any other and i've never had a problem. I didn't shut the console off while it was saving or nothing like that. I simply saved, then exited to main menu then shut the PS3 off. Turned it on the next day and my save is corrupted? WTH? do patches fix save file problems because i haven't updated yet. Any help would be great. Thanks!

You can restore corrupt/damaged sectors on the PS3 HD by opening the hidden system menu and doing a 'Restore File System'

But if your game says 'file corrupt' when trying to load a saved game. There is very VERY little chance it'll fix it, but restoring the HD will fix any future saves from being corrupt also.

When i load the game, my save file isn't even showing in game. I know it's corrupt from the PS3 game menu under saved games.

Sorry

It's Dead Jim.

the only way to protect yourself from corrupt files is to back up your saves often. I always make multiple saves and then I back up the ones I want for strategic reasons to a different id on my ps3.

Too many ways to get files corrupted, loss of power, quitting during a save, just a glitch while saving,, many reasons

sorry

Did you have any backups? Relying on one save file isn't a good idea, especially in Bethesda's games.

No i didn't have a back up, i never needed one. I have all 3 major consoles and been purchasing them every time a new one comes out and not once has this even happened. Well it looks like the Bethesda train wreck has come my way. I'm done with Bethesda games. If it isn't the bug infested gameplay it's this. And before you mention the.. it's not bethesda it's your PS3...well it's not my PS3, this has never happend before and i've never heard of it happening just randomly and like hell if it ain't Bethesda's new so called video game. Write this down Bethesda, I can't make a video game so i won't try, you should do the same.. if you can't make it properly, don't make it at all, you seem to have enraged more people with this new release then any other. Maybe it's time to call it quits or hire a new team. I'm a little upset so that's all i have to say. Thanks to the people who responded.

Then you have been lucky really.

We used to call them splat files. You can't do anything to prevent them other than making sure you don't lose power during hd access. Any game can glitch a save. Skyrim has a lot of problems, but this isn't one of them.
