need help with college of winterhold quest(spoiler) : V

Here is the problem on that "eye" quest: (sorry for my bad english btw)

What am i suppose to do here ? That guy said "heit the crystal" but nothing happened -.-

Use the frost and fire spells to make it change. You'll notice the beam spreading out or coming together if you hit it. Extra spoiler:

You have to make the beams line up with the circular items on the wall

That one confused me a lot the first time i did it.

I already did that but nothing happened. :/ I use frost and fire spell same time to the crystal but those lights are still not moving. :/
