Load times longer after patch 2.1

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 10:54 pm

After patch 2.1, loading screens are much longer than before (approximately 2/3 longer than before.) It's not a major bug, but it's very annoying that a patch which was supposed to FIX problems, creates new ones...

I have to add to this issue the possible graphical downgrade (not sure if it's because textures or what, but it looks less appealing). i've also noticed that for some reason, objects' textures in loadtimes and menus look better, more shiny... What kind of crazy stuff is this?? :P

I really hope that by the end of the year we get the full game, and not alpha/beta/buggy versions of it.

I actually like this.

I always felt like the game was rushing through the load screen only to put me in an area that wasn't done loading and so I got bad lag and stuff.

Now at least when I enter a city I don't have to wait 10 seconds for things to slightly smooth out.

The load times before were a contributor to the lag. I believe they needed to expand this (my knowledge of this matter is based upon previous posts on the skyrim forums, so if im wrong please correct me) because the game needs to be able to flush the RAM database. Before the patch, the RAM was not being flushed, which caused the memory to quickly expand, which caused the lag. Now that the RAM is being flushed (during load times, waiting, and sleeping) the memory can be contained. Hope this helps :icecream:

I've noticed this.
At one point it was taking so long to load a dungeon, I thought my game had crashed, I was about to manually turn off my PS3 when it finally loaded up.
