70h In, Patch thoughts from my perspective

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 1:13 pm

Hi, I've only just started posting on the forums and would like to voice my opinion on the skyrim patch just released. I've got a large save file. Topping in at 15mb which as you can probably imagine was absolutely unplayable when I played for about 30 minutes without hard rebooting my PS3. Now the patch has been released I've noticed a really great improvement for me anyway, I do still get FPS drop and it's not hitting what it should be (like the 360) and yes, some towns are choppy when first entering them, but after being in the towns for about 2 minutes it's smooth. I just wished Bethesda took their time over each version of the game. I would've happily waited an extra couple of weeks for them to get the same performance as the 360. As for the textures I haven't noticed them! I don't think mine have been downgraded weirdly. My game looks just as good as it was but way more smooth.

So, how are you finding the patch? Helpful or not?

I'd say it mostly fixes the severe lag issues, but it gets still very choppy for me after about 30 minutes, and is in no way as smooth as the Xbox 360 version.

Didn't they assure you that would be fixed

I remember reading a hardware anolysis between both systems. It was looking at both the PS3 and XBox360.
Ultimately, the PS3 (hardware wise) was capable of better graphics, while the XBox360 was capable of smoother
graphics. Now this also depends on the game and whether or not both games didn't have any bugs.

But it wouldn't surprise me hearing this... sadly enough.

Before the patch i deleted everything...waiting for the patch and starting fresh. A far as i can see the graphics look fine and the game runs tons smoother. I am grateful this patch addressed issues.

Nice thread:)

But in all honesty I wouldn't be happy to wait even days never mind weeks for it to be fixed so I'm glad they got it out on time (and the awesome date)
