Game strategy advice

So I love to explore and get everything done in a game. 120 in oblivion and no main quest started...

I'd like to alter that for Skyrim, and wanted advice as to whether you feel it's possible to perform the main quest right from the start, so... by the end of the main quest, I'd get most of the side-quests started/completed alongside. Looks like an easy "duh;" of course this couldn't apply for all side-quests, but I'd like to figure out more of how this game is designed to flow aside from the generic, "In Skyrim you can be whatever YOU want to be." blargh...

In oblivion, I was just cruising along doing everything else and going everywhere first, then start the main quest. Maybe silly, but again, wanted to make sure I was able to do everything; just scared I'd miss content and not even be aware of it, something my OCD won't allow! Any similar feelings?
Thanks.

Umm thanks.

Looking for a bit more on the advice side. mmm nvm. I've seen a few dozen threads in here, and most of what I see are people just looking to harass. Life must not be so enjoyable for them. F this.
