You're shooting an arrow from a bow. Not a bullet from a gun, there are limitations on how far it can fly lol

But then again shooting fireballs out of my hand isn't very realistic either.

Yet it already heads to the ground and loses speed... If they hit the enemy, they should do some damage.

yes there is, BUT when a bullet HITS and penetrates you, you will take damage !! so an arrow that flys right through you should do some damage !!

Hmmm.

I can kind of see the point with the fireball video. But the Arrows? I'd debate that. The first video seems like guesswork for the shot - it doesn't look like it's anywhere close, more like floating over the target.

There is definately a range issue, and it has been well documented...as a quick search will show you.

Yeah.. I notice it mostly when firing at dragons.. they don't seem that far away and the arrow will clearly hit.. yet it causes no damage.

Those arrows looked like they went over the target's head.

This issue is real, but not a huge deal. Probably for balancing reasons.

Range limit?
Yes there does seem to be one, its really annoying, its like when a target is too far away I can't hit it no matter where I aim and I'm even compensating for gravity, there seems to be a point where arrows disappear about 50 feet out, I also tested shooting one straight up at full pull strength and it never came back down, or anywhere nearby cause of the wind, but I doubt wind effects arrows in this game anyway, in Oblivion they would land right on top of me, but in Skyrim they just disappear when you shoot them far enough, hens a range limit.

could you commit suicide by shooting yourself in the head that way?

that would be pretty damn cool, like in The Mexican or in festivities in Naples

The OP is referring to the fact that arrows disappear after being shot so far. More often than not you can't pull off long range shots due to the fact of arrow physics in the game. To start with you can't control your own arrows trajectory. The arrow arcs over your aim rather than following it and then falling like it should. On top of that it can only go so far before disappearing.

Arrows dont follow a logical, or consistent flight path.
It is also very obvious with slowmotion and zoom, that they physically travel directly through targets.

Kinda used to it, but if intentional, it is poorly implemented.

I agree this is a glitch. I have killed a few birds successfully with the bow, however, I believe this is not a glitch that is consistent. Sometimes I can kill them, other times a million arrows does nothing and you can see the bird continues to fly around with the arrows sticking out of it. I believe it is similar to when the game loads up funny and you find the flags set in stone no longer blow etc. Maybe certain things fail to load properly. I'll post to put forth my claims.
