disappointed...

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 2:30 pm

After searching on here and other sites for a fix for my crashing issues, I haven't found anything but a realization that there are hundreds, perhaps thousands, or people having the same issues that I'm having.
Therefore, I am just disappointed. It is clear that this game needed at least another month or so of testing and fixing. They should have been responsible and delayed the release. I wouldn't have minded if it meant a functioning game on release.
Don't get me wrong, the game is gorgeous and for the 12 hours I could play it was tons of fun, but now I'm stuck with a game I payed 60$ that won't work. This was my birthday present, and it isn't working. Thanks for a bittersweet present :(

We believe they didn't do any QA testing when they ported the game from the console to the PC. That's what is most likely causing most of these problems, because it appears they never bothered to optimize it for the PC.

If that's true, it is even more disappointing. So the people who are probably the biggest fans of skyrim and want to see it in all its glory are the ones that are chopped liver? What a shame...

hehe, its kind of sad isnt it. Also bethesda (or at least TES) games have a tendency to make people have to go deep into the ini files for optimal (acceptable) configurations.
They should ship a manual to the g.d. ini file :brokencomputer:

I've always only gotten the PC versions. Of the ones available on the console, this is the first TES title I've ever owned that I started to wish I had gotten the console version instead. I never had any regret about owning Morrowind and Oblivion for the PC.

Never had any problems with Morrowind or Oblivion, at least. Not like this.

This appears to be a trend for Bethesda lately, if any of you made the mistake of buying Rage.

Morrowind was made for PC's, then ported to Consoles.

Oblivion, I believe, was developed for both together.

Skyrim from what I've read, was made for consoles, then ported to PC's, and there in lies the problems.

I know how you all feel as well to some degree. I sat out in the cold for over a hour for this game, then waited inside in a huge line twice and then stood for another 2 hours just to get this game as soon as possible and i can hardly even play it. It worked fine the first day, but by the second day a bunch of issues started popping up and i cant really play it anymore since it randomly freezes often. I do not have it as bad as my friend though. He spent 4 hours trying to just get passed the first tutorial mission because it kept crashing and locking up. We both have struggled to even play the game and its getting old fast. We are both starting to wish we would of just picked it up for the PS3, sure we would not get mods or the better graphics but at least i would have a working version of the game. Right now all i have is a game that works when it wants to, and that is not very often. And who knows when Bethesda will get things tuned up.

This is the first game I have ever pre-ordered (been gaming for about 20 years), and the first game I have ever gone to a midnight release for and waited in a line to get it. I will never do it again; not for Bethesda or anyone else. I'll just do it the old way from now on and get it whenever I get it. Preferably a month or two after release so (hopefully) I can get patches and avoid the worst issues. I'm about at the point where I'd rather just have my $65 back. All my excitement for Skyrim has pretty much gone. It svcks to see myself type that, because I *love* TES and am a huge fan.

This was the third game I pre-ordered.

The second one svcked, too.

Should have learned the lesson, I guess.

But, you know, NO REFUNDS!
