Save file being written over

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 4:13 pm

Well, my original save file had a few issues, which meant for certain reasons I could not complete two major quest lines.

Thinking logically, I thought it would be a brilliant idea to start a new character and play through the quests and hopefully avoid glitching them.

However, upon playing through the game for a couple of hours I went to manually save the game and noticed that my original save had gone, and only the recent autosaves were there. I even checked my HDD and the save file was missing with only the newer saves being there.

Now I'm certain that I didn't save over it accidentally, because I made a point to being careful so I didn't do that. I just need to know if many other people have experienced this problem starting new characters or if they've none.

Was it just one save that was over written? From what I have read, whenever you make a new character it overwrites the first save slot.

Same thing happened to my mage character. Started the mage college quest line and it dead ended when it should have continued, so I created a new character. At first, I saw both saves were there, but when I checked later, the first save disappeared. What's lost is lost. Oh well, whatever.

I just had the 1 original save game, then started the new one and it seemed to have disappeared.
