A: Markath really needs a good old fashioned viking razing.
B: The Forsworn apparently aren't that bad, outside of the whole "viking blood-letting thing" they seem to be into. Mostly, all the information i've been able to dig up on them is that they're pretty much oppressed by the locals, who are mostly very bad people.
C: If you follow your new Forsworn buddies after the breakout instead of going off to do your own thing, and they survive the trip, they'll take up residence at a location far, far to the north of the city. Which is actually a fast travelable location.
All of the NPC's there, named, and normal Forsworn, are perfectly friendly to you, and will even give you random chat that is specific to the Forsworn faction (Pledging to retake the Rift, etc, etc.). However, the quest sort of ends after that. Talking to the Rag King only gets more random chat. And apparently I can't actually interact with any of them outside of random chat.
Is there any way to actually pitch in with these guys? The entire quest line pretty much reveals that Markath is a police state at best, and that the Forsworn were used by the Jarl (You can talk to him about it.) then thrown away, to be oppressed. Also, that the Jarl and others in control of the city are probably monsters of the highest pedigree.
Talking to a prisoner reveals that the Jarl had the prisoner's child executed for her fathers crime, after the child begged to have her father be set free and to take her instead. The Jarl then had the father thrown into a labor camp for life, after forcing him to watch the innocent child be beheaded.
It seems extremely odd that after the quest is done you can't do anything else with the Forsworn except kill them in the ruins and camps where they are actually hostile. Especially after one of their greatest leaders gives me an enchanted version of their uniform and proclaims me to be a close friend upon seeing him again.
Really, the whole thing is itching for some sort of follow-up, but I just can't find it, short of storming Markath alone and burning everything I see to the ground.
